I can't stand bringing more than two rifles to the range.. too much crap to lug around!
Awesome!! I am planning to be there 30-45 before they open. You normally shoot on the far left side benches? I'll be with my room mate so we need 2 benches between us.

I hate bringing so many rifles too but i just hate driving so far just to test 1 gun i have little faith in. My local range (Inland Fish & Game) just got closed down and the next closest (Lytle Creek) is more of gangsta paradise so im stuck making the journey

He isn't kidding about the 24/7 part either. During SCPRC there was one guy that came after midnight saturday/sunday and shot what sounded like an AR till past 2 in the morning even though there was a bunch of people out camping in the front trying to get some sleep.

I went out to take a look at WEGC 2 weeks ago. The big plus for me was all the space they have there but there was a guy who explained how their set up works and i just went home. It seems kinda dumb that if i show up at 7am to shoot 600yrds and some yahoo is shooting from 200 then im stuck at 2 with him. I guess all the little private ranges that are between 600 and the impact area have to be clear too. With 1300 members i'd never get to shoot out to 600. Its still about a 50min drive for me.

I just went to the Corona Sportsmens club member meeting last night. Same idea.. you get a key and access 24/7 but its only 200 yrds. Its half the cost and its only 15 min from my house. I think i'll do this and just drive to Angelus or the SCAPRC shoots if i need to shoot further and if my rifle is ever worthy enough to go

Does that price include the lube? honestly I've never tried a Timney before so I'm just really interested. 3lbs is just too stiff for my needs. Can you bring ur gun with it out to the sept. CAPRC shoot so I can feel the "special" one for myself?

I once left my S&W model 41 there and the range officer called me later that evening to let me know he had it.

Yeah, that sucks.

For those that did not hear, the CaPRC club's supply box got stolen from it's hiding spot in the bushes.
Not much in real value in there, but it was pretty inconvienent.

We lost:
t-post pounder
1x2 stakes
some paper targets
various wrenches
hand saws
staple gun & staples
boxes of nuts, bolts, washers
chain
case of bottled water
toilet paper

Not that we leave there until we make the big one that we are going to bury under a bush.
For now, everything stays at Ryan's.

We need to anchor it down into the ground so that no one can just pick it up. We also need lots of locks on it. Camouflaging it is a good idea. We need to find a spot close by but also out of the way. I rmemeber seeing a spot on sunday that seemed like a perfect spot.

It's going to be big and it's going to be buried.
We are thinking 4ft by 8ft and most of it dug into the ground.
Then we will cover it with bushes.

Or we could just get a trailer. I'm still checking craigslist occasionally.

Yeah Randall and I talked about that. Its going to be tough to tow that thing offroad unless its got a short length and high off the ground. Building and burying a box you only need to do once.

If we do that, it's gonna be a 40ft container.

I don't think that you could tow a trailer up that road without a special trailer hitch that floats up/down...lots of narrow paths with deep ruts and uneven terrain..you would probably bend the hitch

We also need some other cover on top the can be locked besides the bushes or else who ever jacked our stuff will just do it again.

Ideal would be something like a mini Conex buried, but that would probably be pricey.

Yup...no one is going to dig into a bush unless they know there is something there.

Targets still up hopefully?

Targets are still there except for our 750 that someone grabbed a couple months ago.
It was near the road so I guess that makes it easy pickings...
The other plates all require a lot more effort.

Since this is BLM land you're speaking of y'all might want to consider the following regulations concerning the use of BLM land . . .

"§ 8365.1-2 Occupancy and use.

On all public lands, no person shall:

(a) Camp longer than the period of time permitted by the authorized officer; or

(b) Leave personal property unattended longer than 10 days (12 months in Alaska), except as provided under §8365.2–3(b) of this title, unless otherwise authorized. Personal property left unattended longer than 10 days (12 months in Alaska), without permission of the authorized officer, is subject to disposition under the Federal Property and Administrative Services Act of 1949, as amended (40 U.S.C. 484(m))."

Nah. The box was too close to the shooting area. We aren't the only ones who shoot there. When you're dealing with a 50 lb target and a 15 minute hike to get it, people are going to leave it be. Hell, we got guys on scopes that have a hard time finding the targets. I don't think other shooters out there are going to even find them.

Hey Randall + Ryan,

Twolf post prompted me to do a lil reaserch.

You might wanna look at this link guys. I would hate to see the club get into trouble before it gets going.
