Default Antiques? Anyone?

I collect firearms from before the 1899 cut-off date (I do have some C&Rs), because they are easy to get a hold of and I think that they are full of history.

I currently have a 1884 Springfield Long Range Rifle in 45-70 gov't, a 1898 Springfield in 30-40 Krag and a 1895 7mm Chilean Mauser. I have been trying to get a Martini Henry, but they are a pain in the rear to get in good condition.

So does anyone else here collect some blasts from the past or am I a lone ranger here?

Just FYI Idaho used to may still have a special hunting season for those oldies. I used to have a Brown Bess and a Sharps that I would take hunting up there. Then one day a guy offered me a big wad of cash and like a idiot I said yes. Sold both rifles

I have an 1874 Sharps, but it is a clone by EMF/Pedersoli.

It is a beauty and it fires well. I just need to get the Berthier sights for it fixed or no bison for me!

The Krag is smoother than water and the Trapdoor is very accurate for it's age. I am happy with my sweeties.

I would love to see a Krag vs Garand vs M24 vs M4 Battle!

Just the smoke screen from the 1873/1884 would end the battle

I used to own a black powder 10G SxS. I fired it both barrels once at Lyle Creek and silenced the place. So much smoke. My shoulder has never been the same since.

I'd love to find an affordable 30/40 (krag) for my Dad...

I have one in awesome shape, but I don't think you would like what I would consider "affordable"

No, I'd consider that a collectable, to be hung on the wall in a very nice oak and glass case
