Exactly, where's all the talk about preventing bad guys from getting guns?
This has turned into an attack on the 2A.

Don't tax our reloading supplies - we'll be more than happy to declare the number of rounds I reloaded on my tax for and let you deduct it from my refund.

people are buying ammo at 100% more than a few months ago... I'll gladly pay .05 per round more if the prices go back down to what they were 4-6 months ago.

Of all the exorbitant taxes we pay, I don't know why this is the one to complain about.

5 cents now, $1 next year, $10 the year after that.

Default The question is moot

With the Feds buying billions of rounds of ammo there won't be any for civilians to purchase. Whatever might be available will be so expensive most will not be able to afford it. Might this hoarding of ammo with OUR tax dollars be yet another attempt to circumvent the 2nd in addition to creating a "civilian national security force" ? You be the judge....

why stop at ammo?... I'm more concerned about increased tax on income, sales, property, gas, etc...

.05 added to last calendar quarter pricing is FAR cheaper than whats people are paying now. That was my point. If you want to fight tax increases why are you focusing on ammo? (is my other point).

I don't know about anybody else but we're stockpiling a few thousand rounds of each caliber we use just in case, as we find it now. Almost afraid to shoot and use it up. Again, the lawmakers actions and proposals have consequences. California is prone to wildfires, and firemen have to protect homes. How many homes this next summer are going to have an ammo stash they wouldn't normally feel they need to have that explodes? Normally we would just have a hundred rounds or so if even that for the next shoot, now we keep thousands. And I know several neighbors are stockpiling as well. These nasty mean-spirited proposals will somehow, someway, have unintended consequences that kill people.

The new tax is part of a policy instated by Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle to help fund the Cook County Health and Hospitals System. Because of the increase of crime issues in many cities, Chicago declares strategies. Life really does mimic art sometimes. For instance, more than a decade ago, comic Chris Rock suggested in a stand-up routine that if bullets were made too expensive, there would be much fewer shootings. Cook County, Illinois, seems to agree, which is why that region, which Chicago occupies, is proposing a bullet tax that would help defray the costs of crime.

Thing I see problematic about this is that what if you already payed tax on the bullet when you originally bought it. You shouldn't be taxed again for the same item if you turn the components that has already been taxed back into working bullets. It is like charging sales tax for an item that has already been taxed for sales.

This bill and the flat 10% tax on ammo never made it out of assembly. I am sure it will be back in next years legislative session though.

Tax bills require a 2/3 majority for passage. Taxes are a tougher nut to crack. Bills that simply trample 2A are much easier.

It was a nice bit of news that the two tax bills were shot down but with SB53 looming, ammo acquisition is still going to become very painful if it passes.

I buy all my ammo out of state right now, but if I didn't I would start if this passed.

Tip of the day to become rich: Open an ammo store off the 10 fwy in Arizona near Blythe and the 15 fwy in Nevada near state line.

Serious. Two more locations.. one off the 40 inside AZ and one in Yuma Az.

A huge ammo warehouse and a storage facility for firearms. It would need FortKnox type security but it would do brisk business if they pass these crap laws.

This type of attitude is the reason why gun owners are screwed in this state. Too many of you guys are willing to compromise.

Do like the Las Vegas casinos do for their big spenders (large ammo purchaser and arms storage customers in this case) and offer limo service. I imagine "group buys" would increase in frequency and purchase amount.

Since I can't do that drive anymore...

Respectfully
Kyle

Just go the Lake Havasu City. It's pretty close to the state line off the 40, and there at least 5 gun shops in town. I buy all my stuff there.

Except that the state has been doing that with vehicles forever.

Very interesting! Maybe this should be a new post but how do you safely store ammo from exploding in case of a fire? Will a safe with a good fire rating work? Or? Bill

Bills failed.

Thread drift.

Look for the SAAMI youtube video on ammunition and fire.
