Default Long Wait Times

El Dorado County CCW application.
Applied: February 2018
Interviewed: May 2018
Online Status since June 2018: "Assigned to processor/processing order."

As of today it still shows the same status.
The exceedingly long wait time for CCW in EDC needs a valid explanation.

Update: Emailed EDC several months ago requesting status and received this reply: "...due to our very low staffing levels at this time, CCW processing is delayed. The Sheriff has been working on getting us more staff here in records and we're hoping to begin processing new applications soon. To my knowledge, you haven't missed any correspondence, but if we need anything further, we'll contact you. Thank you for your patience and understanding."
There has to something going on here resulting in the CCW work shut-down. I will attempt to find out.

It looks like the county has new staff now processing applications and permits. There is a team of personnel in the office issuing permits with production efficiency. Thank you El Dorado County for dealing with the permit backlog and getting the process working again.

Just got mine. 7 months beginning to end. Excellent staff the whole way through. The main hold up was renewals which, understandably and rightly so, took priority over new permits. Thanks to Sheriff D’Agostini and staff!!!

Has the Sheriff's Office issued the "live fire shooting exercises", that are required in AB 2103 (2018), for those of us who will be renewing later in the spring?

Nothing exact. Another posting in another area of the forum gives an idea of what is required.

Original course was issued to instructors (I instruct for ED Co) and was rescinded shortly after for further review due to challenges it presented for those with revolvers.

As of 3/30 still no updated qualification has been issued. Most instructors have implemented their own COF.

Anyone know of EDCS has any issues with the use of newly acquired standard capacity magazines while carrying? As I understand it, while it’s legal on the state level, each county designates their ruling on this.

My understanding is that the sheriff has said he has "more important things to do" than counting number of rounds in a magazine. All of my current carry guns fall below any restriction (P245, P239/9 and Les Baer 1911). Best bet is to give the concealed carry department a call, or email them here: ccw@edso.org

Does El Dorado County have to be my primary residence to get a CCW there? I live in another county but spend a lot of time at my property in El Dorado County. Yes I know I can potentially get one in the county I live in but that's not my question.
Thanks

El Dorado must be your primary residence. Meaning you live there and periodically spend time at your other home.
You must also notify the sheriff of any address change within a week or 10 days.
If you primarily live in another country either apply there, or just move to El Dorado. It's the best!!

Thanks for the quick reply. I wish I could move there but just can't at this point. I saw a bear and mountain lion on my property within 24 hours...glad I could carry on my own property!

Default CCW Issued - very slow

I applied for my El Dorado CCW 7/18/2018. The earliest appointment in Placerville was 2/28/2019. I made that appointment, got fingerprinted, interviewed, and turned in my proof of completed training, and just today (6/12/2019) I am informed the permit is approved to be issued. Of interest they notified me by email, and sent a text as well as a robo-call to tell me the permit is approved.
I learned that one can get an earlier appointment of one goes to South Lake Tahoe.
The process was well done, but very slow. I say this having had permits from five other issuing authorities over more than 35 years.

You may be able to pick up sooner if you go to Tahoe. I had the option of waiting another week and a half, or driving an hour and picking up next day. I left work early and drove up to Tahoe.
Best drive back down 50 I ever made.

Wow, do you have a friend at the SO? I applied on 9/13/18 and am still waiting. They keep telling me it will be a while longer due to staffing.

I just got my renewal. Took 4 months. They are pretty short staffed in this area so it takes time. When I first applied to get my ccw it took about 11 months.

Sorry your experience is different from mine. When I was going through the process, the person running my background said the Sheriff was offering overtime to anybody working on permits to get them out the door. Hope they turn you around soon!
