look don't fall for the fear tactics he probably a anti gun guy that started the fear thread in the first place .he say's it will pass you all got sucked in . the mind is a powerfull thing what you think is .so think positive. the only thing to fear is fear itself . fore fathers words not mine.
they been putting people on gun forms to make gun people look stupid and fearing of or government. don't get caught in any debates on gun bans just call and write your reps in government. please don't sit here and speculate it makes you look dumb even if its true. anything and everything will be used against you, not for you, in a COURT OF LAW. This is just like the 2000 assault weapons ban all over again. Were ****ed! In all honesty you can stand up however you see fit but once they have put this trash into law, were done.
We have seen it in other countries, The taking of firearms. Hell the ****ing Liberals are using those as learning examples to do the same to us. They know what they are doing. Want to know why we are getting flooded by so many media spokes people from other countries? Because misery loves company. They cant have them so why should you? They lost theirs, so why should'nt you? All we can do is resist but once its law were doomed. If this wasnt the case we would not still have to use phrases like Black rifle, High capacity magazines and bullet buttons. Its been how long since the last ban and what have we got back? Nothing! After all the talk which one of you is really going to fight to the death to keep your guns if they outlaw them? You only need to answer that question to yourself , because we know on here people will say anything. In the real world when push comes to shove most will cave to the pressure. Who wants to loose their families, jobs, whats left of their freedom etc? This is what the Dems are counting on. The only chance we have is to keep them from making it law! We will see who stands on the wall come June 2014, talk is cheap, if you have never fought for something greater then yourself, or are not willing to sacrifice all for that greater thing (constitution/country/family/community), then you are in the way.
To have fought for your country and another country, you have experienced a code of commitment not shared by the majority, or as we used to "say "Freedom has a flavor all its own that the protected will never taste". |

Well I guess 80% 10/22 receivers aren't as ridiculous of an idea as I first thought. These guys got'em in black and stainless/silver. A little pricey, but hey its a free market.

A serious question and not intended to make things worse than they already are.
The way Senator Steinberg's law is written makes me wonder if at some time it might be used to also ban certain brands of semi-auto handgun.
Glock's and 1911's can be turned into a semi-auto rifle with a conversion kit. Yes these are illegal in CA, at least I think they are, so.........would a Glock or a 1911, and possibly other brand handguns now be considered as the basic component of an assault weapon...the lower? Not trying to stir the pot up, it is already very bad and needs no further action to make a foul soup. This struck me today and wonder if any "legal eagles" have insight on this aspect of the semi-auto rifle ban? |

I don't read law language well. But, if my AR will be deemed an assault rifle and I register it, does that mean I could then have a 30 round magazine and no bullet button? I mean, it is already an assault rifle and registered. So might as well?

I hate living here now, after over 50 years. And BTW, gun laws are not even in my top 3 reasons of moving out of this commie state. The only way I'll stay is if CA becomes a Red State. Make illegal immigration against the law. Lower taxes. Drastically cut state spending and completely restructure the public pensions and public union contracts as a whole. Drastically reduce the Nanny State Syndrome by 50%. See what a desperate fantasy the above paragraph is? The majority of CA citizens want a Democratic run nanny state, fine and dandy. Take your medicine. I'm not going to stick around when it hits rock bottom.

The democrats have a super majority if both houses in Calif. It will pass, I would bet my left nut.
Let me ask, have you contacted your local assembly member and senator. There is a very slight chance that Jerry Brown could veto the bill, but I doubt it. Still, contact the governor too. Too bad my old 10/22 was lost on a camping trip a few years ago. |

In my perfect world, I will put all conservative politicians and citizens who are pro-guns in one state and then liberal politicians and citizens who are pro-guns in one state. And I will likewise put all conservative politicians and citizens who are againts guns in one state. I will do the same to all liberals who are againts guns, put them together in one state. Who do you think is going to survive and thrive?

The rest of the nation has for many years seen CA as a place for crazy moonbat hippies but also as a financial center. Now they see it not only as a place for crazy moonbat hippies to gather and howl at the moon but as a financial disaster as well. In short, even with it's population, CA simply isn't nearly as influential as it once was. There are about 37 million Americans who live in CA but there are 288 million who don't. As odd as it may sound, the best way to save the nation and CA might be for productive people to move elsewhere to not only strengthen their adopted state but to hasten the total collapse of the CA welfare system. If the welfare system can't pay, the useless will either have to leave or go to work. If they actually go to work, they will likely have more of an appreciation for their hard earned cash and not be as likely to vote to give it to someone else. |

I'm glad a lot of people read this post. I needed to get the word out. I think I accomplished that. Maybe our Govenor will refuse to sign this bill and the others. Miracles do happen from time to time. I found that most of the people that I know that have a couple of guns but hardly ever go shooting were completely clueless about this and other gun bills.

Yes, can some "law-talking-guy" answer Tonymin question?
If we missed the boat in 1999 to register an AW and use 30 rounds un-bullet buttoned magazines. If this new law passes, does it mean we can use our 30 round fully detachable magazines in our now registered "Assault Weapons"? Can we turn this into a second chance to get RAWs? Also, this is mostly just a massive massive money grab and that's probably how it's being sold to CA legistators. "Hey, guys, how would you like to rake in $X million dollars, with no cost to use except filing a piece of paper?" |

Brown's plan for gun control in 2013
Start listening at 2:32 to hear Brown's intentions; he clearly states that there is more gun control coming to California.
Here's another...Brown states that he supports the reinstatement of the fed assault weapons ban at the very minimum He gets quite offended in this one when the journalist asks him why California is no longer the leader in things like gun control. Jerry Brown and gun control I won't hold my breath...this joker will most likely sign ANY gun control bill that makes it to his desk. He takes great pride in having the most strict and oppressive gun laws in the nation.

How many liberal democrats own a 10-22? I hope that enough idiotic voters that put these fools in charge to begin with will be affected by this and are currently voicing their opinions. The sad thing is most the shooters I come across have no idea what these proposals contain and how it will affect them. For myself it's more about the cost of having to register all my so called assault rifles. I'm not paranoid about them coming for my guns later. I believe there really would be a uprising if it actually came to confiscation. I hope we are all doing more than ranting to each other. Please continue to contact our lawmakers and spread the word to all the fellow shooters we come across.

Lot's of us got filthy rich here since the 70's but we weren't so pre occupied by the less fortunate seeking help! BTW many other states in this great Union are the recipients of our CA tax money derived right here from CA. Seems they don't produce a lot of stuff and have extremely high rates of obesity and lack of education. But beatin' up the less fortunate has always been great sport huh? PS: Dems in CA have a super majority presently. That's reality...I've communicated with any and all who have a vote on these matters...Have we all? |

Way too far.
Please understand that when this AW garbage started in 1989, the intent of the legislature was to ban a few scary looking guns first, then work on expanding bans.
Well, they missed many of rifles, so from 1991 till 1998 you could still buy scary looking semi auto rifles until Ab23 came along. Well, since the ban focused on cosmetic features, we had work arounds on those ones too. Bullet buttons and funny looking grips. This latest bill not only goes after centerfires, but rimfires as well and that will be the downfall. The original Roberti Roos bill didn't include guns like the Mni 14 or the M1 carbines because too many people owned them. Now we have a bill to ban the most common rifles owned across the board. If this doesn't wake up California gun owners, nothing will. Ironically our state hasn't yet led the charge to jump off the cliff, but our legislatures are working to show that they can be more stupid than their east coast comrades. The Federal courts will have to weigh in because if they don't, this could get really ugly. Nicki |

Theoretically, those forms will never be seen by a Gov't agency, exceot to ensure that your records are clean, then they throw them away, and the DROS stays with the dealer. In practice, this doesn't seem to have been happening. (Local DA's sending "safety" letters in the mail following gun purchases, particularly around the LA area IIRC.) As of Jan 1, 2014, you will have to register new purchases of long guns.
