I believe this was just south of Al Wafra, Kuwait during Desert Storm.

My reenlistment at 3/1 Bn HQ with my company commander. The gun was a captured Iraqi piece.

The sound reminded me of a needle gun on overdrive.

The radar system on those are so kick-butt.

Cool! My father was the program manager for the P-3B through C for Lockheed (1970's-1990's) until they cancelled it. I have a few of the P-3 models made by Lockheed and given to their customers as promotional items/thank you's.

It's supposedly still one of the best sub hunters that's ever been made.

Dive up off Port Hueneme CA 1983. Can't remember the boat's name that took us out, it was a big commercial dive boat, we couldn't get a Navy dive boat that week. We later got a Boston Whaler to use a dive boat and moored it at Dana Point.

Supporting airdrops at Fort Hood TX, 1984. I'm far right. The long whip is HF radio antenna, the hat looking dealio is UHF air to ground antenna, the other medium whip is FM radio for talking to range control. PRC-25 (Prick 25 for you old timers). The fat pipe looking thing is VHF air to ground antenna. M-416 trailers usually had an Onan 15 KWA generator on them but that trailer looks slick.

Amphib training at White Beach Camp Pendelton, somewhere around 1980. They put us bigger guys on the bow to plane the zodiaks off. At least that what they told us, you're also there to take the pounding from the surf and rogue waves. I'm front left in boat, the one with head down paddling while the others contemplate the impending salt water enema.

Believe it or not, being fat is not a get out of war ticket. That guy is probably a reservist who got deployed regardless of body fat composition.

I "love" the professionalism being exhibited by that Marine "officer". He is the tip of the spear in selflessness and compassion.

I am curious, back in the day, in the Navy, there was one guy I know of trying to use weight to get discharged.

Has anyone seen an active duty Marine, grossly over weight?

It actually shoots 4,500 rounds per minute of 20mm depleted uranium or tungsten rounds, and it holds 1,550 rounds in the drum. Awesome gun, I worked on it for years before converting to MA!

Ding Ding Ding, you are Correct, his coin is pretty cool looking. The other was the Core Command Sergeant Major at the time, alas I'm horrible with names and cannot remember his.

That pic was taken in the IZ one day when we stopped in to grab some lunch, I think it was a friday and a holiday and our IP station was deserted so we really had nothing better to do.

How we ran into them was pretty funny, The CSM started chewing out our IPLO for wearing ACUs with custom patches and sporting a goatee, so one of the other team leaders (my driver was still trying to park the truck) went to the IPLOs defense and told the CSM, (didn't realize who he actually was) and corrected him on the spot for wearing yellow lenses (something that was supposedly verboten)

Needless to say the CSM said they are authorized in country because he says so and like the fact that my buddy had the balls to approach him about it, so he called up the General and had him come over and shoot the **** with us for a few minutes.
