Yes, it shows that some commercial rounds have higher pressure in the gas cylinder...but there is no data to show at what total impulse the gas piston or op rod starts to get deformation or damage.

Without that data, one can't simply say "because the commercial rounds are higher pressure than M2 ball, then op rod damage will result".

The point is the contrary...

...there are a lot of Commercial Rounds that have similar port pressure curves to that of M2 ball.

As for the question of damage from over-pressure rounds?

You and your rifle are welcome to be the "crash-test dummy" on this one. Higher port pressures result in higher operating forces and bolt cycle speeds, the latter of which is arrested by the bolt's impact w/ the heel of the receiver.

Cracked receiver heels due to excessive bolt speeds, and bent op rods and excessive wear due to system over-pressure, are real problems.

Good lube schedules may mitigate the wear factor, but will do nothing, if not increase, bolt speeds.

I like my rifles, and while they weren't all that expensive, their repair a/o replacement cost would be considerably more.

Not the point at all; not saying it can't or doesn't happen.

I am simply saying that there is no reliable or definitive information about what pressure/impulse will result in deformation or damage. That could be 1% more than M2 ball, it could be 100% more than M2 ball.

Without knowing that, it is not really possible to know what those pressure curves actually mean.

Thumbs up

Nevada you may get lucky! I got that DBU email last week and my order hit the eStore as pending that afternoon. My 3 garands arrived yesterday! I was told the last day they will ship this year is the 19th. 6 days from DBU email to delivery for me, including the weekend they spent sitting in Oakland.

Maybe they are processing California's first, before the next new infringement law takes affect.

Yup. Ordered on 11/26, got it before Christmas. A very nice wartime Springfield, ME 1+, TE 2. Everything looks Springfield and correct so far

So for CMP orders that have to now be sent to an FFL, is there tax charged in addition to the FFLs fee?

Yup, BOE will come after the FFL for the tax so they will be collecting it.

Might have asked this already, but just want to double check... since I have a C&R, does my CMP Garand have to go in to my bound book even though I didn't use the C&R to buy it? I'm getting conflicting advice on that subject...

Thanks!

The way I understand it is yes, you enter all C&R firearms you purchase after obtaining your 03FFL. All C&R's owned previous to the license do not require entry.

Yes, you don't "use your license", you are a licensee. Every firearm acquired or disposed while you are licensed, that meets the definition of a C&R, must be recorded in you bound book. It does not matter how you acquired it or how you may dispose of it.
This is all covered in the ATF packet that is sent out when you apply for your 03FFL.

Ok, now February 10th, and still waiting!
Edited today: Called them today, and was told ,120-180 days from when my order was received. Could be up to 6 months from when my order was received on December 9th!
They must have sent out California orders quickly before the newest gun restriction took effect.
