Don't you need an FFL or C&R? or am I missing something...

Nope. Once you meet all their requirements, it will be shipped to your house.

I would suggest registered priority mail for the first buy. Lot of good Identity-Theft documents and Information included in that envelope.

Subsequent orders are quite a bit more sterile. USPS-Snail is fine.

My packet arrived today.

Op hope you don't mind if we make this a Garand purchase and update thread for the lot of us. That way it stays alive and we can compare shipment times and pics eventually.

I just signed up with CRPA to fulfill my requirements to order. Do i have to wait till I receive a membership card from them or can i send in my receipt as proof?

Good question. I don't know the answer. Too bad you didn't join the GCA as they automatically inform the CMP of your membership.

Try this. Send in the receipt with everything else in your order packet. You will get an email DBU (don't bother us) telling you everything is good to go a week later. If the receipt is insufficient they will let you know and you can then fax your membership card (I know you can do this). This way you aren't held up for another week.

Does anyone know how long the GCA takes to process a new membership?

GCA processes quickly and submits to CMP quickly, I've heard CMP takes time to process. However, GCA will email you a copy of membership same day and you can fax/ send it in to CMP with your order.

I renewed my GCA and sent in the CMP order the same day. I figure by the time they get my snail mail order, they will have the updated info from the GCA.

Usually a few days prior to shipping. Your order will show up online in the CMP estore and you will see your invoice with your rifle serial numbers.

If you register/renew on-line - same day.

You can call CMP/CS that day and they will update your acct. directly.

Wow, my packet got there on the same day as yours and you're the one that started this thread way back on 12/31. After seeing all the Garand interest you stirred up, I cheated and sent mine via FedEx on Jan 3rd. It was signed for at 9:33 AM on 1/4, and if I end up beating you to the last service grade HRA in stock... sorry man.

Anyone confirm that the HSC is valid instead of a live fire sign off? I havent ordered through CMP for 6 years and its all fuzzy. Sure would be nice to skip that sign off...

Also wondering about he membership ID... like I said, its been a while and I know I had one... do I need to search it out or just leave blank?

It just seems like voodoo when I order and everything needs to be perfect so I dont get shut down.

M1 Collectors Club is the cheapest I know of $14 per year

One note if you're using a debit card with a daily limit of $500 it will stop your transaction!

I have Credit cards with plenty of limits but I gave them a debit card with a limit ( I didn't know it was that low Long Beach Teachers credit union!)

they also have a folding pocket knife that is scaled with wood from broken Garand Stocks, I need one or 12

I joined the GCA. Easy enough. Just need to scan my HSC, DL, and get notarized. It will feel good to have a rifle mail orderd in the dawn of all of this garbage.

I received my first Garand in the Spring of last year, an HRA SG Special. While I love it, it is probably my favorite gun I own, if I had it to do all over again, I would have bought a regular Service Grade instead and spent the $300.00 difference on 600 more rounds of HXP.

The current SGs are mostly beautiful.

And buy as much ammo as you can afford. At 55 cents a round it's unbeatable.

Yeah I liked band of brothers more, I feel like the pacific was too fast paced, and there were fewer point of views
I liked how in BOB it was Easy company's story from beginning to end
My friend was saying how they should make one about the Russians on the eastern front
Stalingrad, saint Petersburg, etc

Wait until they come out with the Winchesters soon and watch what happens. Orest said it would be early part of the year. That place will be swamped more than it is now.

This is true, but you can also call your bank and raise the daily limit.
