Reloading Club....!!!!!
Hi guys.
I would like to take this opportunity to ask for some assistance. I've been working with this project for a while now and I do believe the time has come to move it into an upper level. The idea (nothing new) is to create a reloading club (again nothing new but, unique to Calguns) where the experienced reloaders can network and assist each other with our needs on equipment, components, trouble shouting, virtual and actual help, etc. At the same time, the idea is to create an open and friendly invitation to our interested fellow members willing to get into our addictive hobby and in need of a word of advice and/or knowledge. That being said, I'm looking for experienced reloaders willing to share their knowledge, time, equipment, tricks of the trade, recipes, etc. If you think you can help, please feel to contact your C3 chapter Leader or myself at your earliest convenience. Best regards. Lonewolf.

Nice post Mr. Wolf. You already know I am in on this.
Spent Yesterday teaching an Army Corporal how to load Pistol. He loaded about 300 on my LNL. After running through the process single stage style for an hour. Got to learn to walk first. Would have done 10 first on the Chucker but did not have a .40 shell holder. Strange I have the shell plate and don't even own a .40. I am sure we can get this going. We need to get together with a few experienced to loading Calgunners willing to take the lead.

I'm in. I'm new to reloading and want to learn as much as I can. I have a Lee Challenger Breech Lock press and a Lee Classic that was given to me by a fellow reloader to get me started. I have the dies and case prep equipment. Now, all I need is components.

Hopefully and the idea of forming a club can give us all as members group buying power, with possible special discounts. Donations from manufacturers for raffles. Any profits from group buys (small they would be) could help cover the costs from dropouts. Surplus items, Component bank. Special tech seminars from industry experts NRA classes and certification. and more should a formal and large club come to be. Not to mention the ability to teach new reloaders how to do what we all enjoy.
Note there is something I an looking to set up for the club. Someone with wood working experience could be a help. Please shoot ma a PM especially if you are any where near the Fullerton area.

sounds like something interesting. I have a few suggestions if one does come to fruition.
1) A place where everyone can meet (a place with no alcohol and food is served would be ideal) 2) Some where we could have a room or area to our selves and not bother other or be bothered by others 3)A monthly meeting time and date 4) That a member can show a presentation with actual techniques and have a Q&A session afterwards 5) Possible raffle and give aways to members

I was part of a marine club...and this was exactly what they did. The proceeds from the raffles would go toward the club. I'm interested as well!

It was SCMAS - They had it at Denny's. I signed up, but due to the meeting date, I was only able to make it for two meetings.

I am a noob on the reloading issue. I have the Lyman reloading manual, LOTS of brass and just picked up a set of RCBS .38/.357 carbide dies for a decent price (considering today's market). I am looking for other reloading equipment and supplies without having to pay with my left n--. I would be interested in learning with someone who knows what is going on.

Socalman, North Alhambra here. Where South Pas & San Marino meet. We all gotta do a Meet & Greet! Once component availability come back down to earth, I propose a Quarterly (every three months) group buy through Powder Valley. How 'bout it Mrlonewolf?

^^^^ No, is not.
In essence, I'm looking forward to integrate perhaps the biggest reloading club in our entire country. Am I nuts, out of reality, perhaps too ambitious, you said?. Please allow me to elaborate. As of right now, Calguns and The California Shooting Sports Association have 9 chapters, mainly divided in two sectors, North and South (don't worry about it, we are working hard to integrate the entire state under one single roof and more chapters are coming soon pretty close to you). That being said; Think about that well organized infrastructure behind my statement if you would; think about the tremendous potential, wealth of knowledge, vast amount of equipment and fellow member willing to assist each others; think about the amazing potential to network between us and established locations (gun ranges, gun shops, existing clubs, etc); think about the possibility to have our biggest national vendors and equipment manufacturers assisting us with their products and expertise; think about the insane potential of a chapter and/or state group buy concept while looking for components. In short, think about what Californian's can accomplish working together.

Denny's or ihop works, was thinking more along the lines of Applebee's, Dave & Busters, BJ's, Yardhouse....for an evening of adult beverages.

Just a suggestion... I was part of a reloading club some years back and loved it. Really went thru the same startup issues that are being addressed. My suggestion would be not to do it at Denny's or IHOP, or any other place like that. There is really a lot that can be gained by having a press onsite, or trimming, or whatever task is on the menu that night. I have seen places like IHOP frown upon brining this type of equipment into thier establishment.
We ended up having ours at the VFW hall. Worked great, understanding and curious hosts, and you were allowed to have suds. I would look at places like the VFW, ELKS, or a Grange. |

I agree 100%, no restaurants or any other places where non members can freely enter. VFW is great! My gun club has monthly meetings there too. Count me in. I am always willing to give a hand with casting and reloading. George |

/\ your right I can see an issue doing it at any of does places, that was just an example. But yeah maybe it can be done some were we can bring stuff and maybe show how they work and have a few people try them out as well kind of like a hands one approach

Hope I'm not taking this off on a tangent, but there's a member in South OC (moyneur) who was trying to get something like this going and even mentioned rotating a location. Here's the thread:
http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=684624 I'll let him know about this. I'm in as well (wherever it's at). I'm willing to help organize, as well, if necessary. |

south OC is pretty far for those who have replied on here. I wouldnt mind corona but its kind of far for those in san gabriel and san fernando valley members. We could always make it a potluck if we want to eat and we can make a portable reloading table we can drag around for demo
