I tried taking a more interesting shot of my MC Operator. Not bad for a first attempt like this, I think.

...so where could I get one that simply has that sexy "Classic" on the side? it's so CLEAN. Or is it a different model...? Sorry I'm new to DW, let alone 1911s. TIA!

Almost bought a SA 1911 yesterday. If anyone else is looking for it. Turners in Pasadena had one left for $609.

Default S.A. Custom Carry

One step down (in price basically) from the Professional model. Took nine months to get it from the custom shop a few years ago.

Replaced the MSH with an arched and checkered one from Smith & Alexander

Got rid of the full length guide rod in favor of a standard s.s. plug and spring set-up

Put on some plane Jane walnut grips

I'm liking it just fine this way

Blued gun with SS bushing, trigger, and hammer. Would SS grips screws look good?

These slim ahrend grips were in my parts bin. I put them on just to try out slims on the baer. Surprised what a nice looking combo they make. They don't feel that great though, the wood finish has a sticky feel and the grips aren't very grippy. We'll see how I feel after a range trip. Right now I'm still leaning towards davidson warthog, horned lizard, or vz double diamonds.

So, here's my stock GI M1911.

During WWII my Grandfather had his 1911 stolen from him by another Marine. His pay was docked something like $25 (from what he recalls). Well, eventually he found who took the 1911 and got it back (From what he says the other guy ended up being sorry). When he was eventually discharged after the Pacific theater came to an end he was allowed to keep his 1911 since he had paid for it.

It's nice having something that I know he carried and fired in combat on Okinawa. It's not only a piece of history, but also a piece of my Grandfather that I will be able to hand down to my Son(s) as a reminder that our freedom came at a price.

Note: The serial number shows it was manufactured in 1918.
