Mossberg 930 build project
So I got a 930, non SPX, so that I could build what I want from the ground up, and save some dough. Got this off of a fellow calgunner 12 days ago bone stock, and this is how it looks now.
Going to add a full length rail and Magpul MBUS setup to cowitness that red dot, along with a Magpul AFG, and a Nordic barrel clamp, then we are golden! Cheers! |

Hammertime, nice set up ya got there ...
Wicked liquid, I just took out my 930 "combo" to shoot some sporting clays ... My very first time shooting it. It shot and cycled Winchester super target #8 shot no problem. I was alittle concerned as I read that it might not cycle the low base stuff, but I had no problems at all. Very please with how it shot. |

Here's my 930. It has a Leupold Delta Point that holds zero always, Rhino Rail and Bobcat forend and a few parts from GG&G. We tested this gun at the range for an article and fired 400 rounds in 20 minutes. The ammo was old, some of it 10-15 years old and it was a mixture of shells. Not a single jam. The 930 is a pretty awesome gun.

Range report:
This thing kicks so much arse it is almost incredible. I put about 400 through in two days of shooting. First day was a variety of ammo, and the ONLY time it didn't cycle was when my friend shot low recoil L.E. buckshot, but I explained it is because he didn't care to let the recoil hit his shoulder (I had him running zombie loads, so he was afraid at this point), thus, the shell stove-piped. It seems the higher recoil the round, the snappier the shotgun became. Had some great groupings on paper at 30 feet. Hornady Zombie 00 buckshot was the most fun to shoot, minus watching my girlfriend try to handle a Federal slug hahahaha! Day two: Took this guy skeet shooting. I'd say in the 300 rounds I fired, I only missed a hand full of times. The point-of-aim is amazing, the ergonomics, and recoil reduction is beyond the price point I paid for this. Highly recommended. Even some filthy 3" turkey shells were not enough to make this an uncomfortable firearm. I'd argue that because of the cycling rate with the higher powered rounds, it made multiple objective sight acquisition easier! My buddy was on the clay pigeon pedal, and was throwing 2-4 clays at a time. No match for a 18.5" security barrel and some 3" turkey load! WEEEW! One question I have for you guys, is if I wanted to put some fiber optics on this bad boy...where would I start? Thank you very very much and cheers, HT Last edited by Hammertime; 12-30-2012 at 6:30 PM.. |

^^^For sure. I've been feeding this thing 1600fps Federal hollow point slugs and it is ACCURATE. I put a Truglo fiber front bead on this thing and it made a three leaf clover at 50 yards. Not bad.

It is a +3 from Nordic. I read reviews on other companies but settled on NC because it is really not that much more, and is way better quality. Figured I'd let the tube go past the muzzle a little bit in the name of an extra round

Crap I as hoping you were going to say +4 hoping that the +3 would be flush with the 18.5" barrel...
Looks like to get it flush I gatta get the +2 ext tube and buy a $30 to $40 extension cap... LAME! haha Sick build BTW.. You have any FTF or issues with that side saddle on there? I want one but keep reading that just causes problems |

You can always drop $150 on a bad *** Rhino Rail http://www.elitetacticaladvantage.co...p?productid=17 and hook it up with some iron sights, but I can't justify buying that right now. Quote:
Never had an issue running that saddle, even with Fiocchi low recoil rounds. Just keep your shoulder firm, and it will cycle anything. It LOVES the higher push magnums, though. My friend tried to be a dick and load me up with some 3" turkey magnums, and it honestly felt like a Remmy 870 with dove load. So nice. I also took the cheek riser off because it is USELESS. Blackhawk completely failed with that damn thing. I don't even have it on my .22 anymore. If you want a good cheek riser/ammo pouch, look no further than Voodoo Tactical. http://www.premiertactical.com/produ...-9421xxxxx.htm Further updates: Got the Nordic barrel clamp, repositioned the tac light, and got a gigantic cocking knob. I have a Magpul angled foregrip in the mail as well! Last edited by Hammertime; 03-13-2013 at 8:52 PM.. |

Here are pictures of it "complete". This is an ongoing project, and I never expect to be fully done with this, as I am waiting for the Mesa Urbino Tactical Pistol Grip to become available.
Also featured is shameless branding for a project I have going . Cheers, gun owners! |
