Default Places to shoot closer to Stockton

I'm retired, 68 years old, live mostly near San Jose, been shooting since I was five. I have a friend who lives in Stockton and she would like me to take her shooting sometime.
When I was much younger we would go out on the islands in the Delta, being older and wiser I would like a regular range, maybe BLM. I was thinking there should be something in the foothills towards Jackson, or Copperopilis maybe.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks, I found some directions when I did an Internet search. It could be a good place to go when I am camping out near Placerville.
It looks like this is an old posting on the forum here.

Unknown coordinates.
Directions are as follows:

1)Highway US 50 exit #60 Sly Park
Right off exit on Sly Park Rd.

2)Take left on (Mormon Emigrant Trail - Silver Lake Rd.)

Drive over dam and continue down road and you will see a few streets on the (R) like Ferrari Mill Rd and Bonetti Rd. Keep on going...

Go by Capps Crossing Rd and pass the next road, Bryants which is where the forestry info bill board is.

Pass the next closed forest entrance gate on the (R) at the top of the hill.

3)Turn into the next (R). It is an unmarked dirt road at the bottom of hill with a large opening. I will leave a sign saying Calguns.

Follow the unmarked road to the top of the hill, you will get to a flat dirt area with lots of shooting spots, I'll be in the Xtera at the range to the (L).

This is a popular spot. The landmark is an old dead white tree about 130 yards off to the (L) in the hill side.
I'll be there 12:00 noon.

Thanks, it looks like it could be the place to go. With the price of fuel it might be worth the fees.

I think you are allowed to shoot anywhere in Stockton. Just drive away really fast.

Good place off 120 in Manteca.
Sac Valley is great, but a bit far from Stockton. .

Check the Range Map Thread, stickied at the top of the Sacramento Forum. We're building a good map of ranges, public, private and Forest Service in the area. If you know of others, comment in that thread and the ones you identify will be added.

Guys, there are a lot of places to shoot in Eldorado National Forest along Mormon Emigrant Trail/NF5 and the side roads, like Bonetti road. Just please be aware of what you are shooting towards. There have been a few instances where folks are shooting at/above ridge lines or towards a berm leading to a trail. If you do not see what is behind your target then don't shoot. ONLY shoot into an area where there is a hillside in the background, please.
