Default ruger 10/22 takedown lite worth the extra $$$?

Anyone have the "newer" takedown lite models?

http://www.ruger-firearms.com/produc...te/models.html

Are they worth the extra money over a regular takedown?

I want one with a threaded barrel. Looks like Cabelas has the black version on sale now But i really wanted a yellow or red one.

This is mainly for plinking and Appleseed. (since they banded the MP15-22 )

Employee discount sale at cabelas is 10% right now.

takedown model 11112 - 368.99 (regular 409.99)
takedown lite - model 21152 - 539.99 (regular 599.99)

Cabelas model 21152

Prices are close to my local FFL. Could get a colored one online, but would cost more with transfers fees.

Even after discounts, its a $136 difference.

Is is supposed to be more accurate, or are you buying it for cosmetics? Looks like the weight difference is neglibible (1.6 oz).

I broke down and got the black takedown lite from cabelas. Still high priced, but decent with the recent sale and gc i had.

This is mainly for Appleseed.
Since they banded the mp15-22.

Just need to save for a can now.

Thanks

You got an extra d in spelling.

We don't have to worry about cans down here.

Nice rifle, but 4.5lbs isn't light.

Well, it is light-er than the regular takedown (TD).

I am also debating between a regular TD vs the lite model. The 2 big differences between the regular TD and the Lite model besides price is (depending on the model) is the presence of iron sights and a modular stock. The Lite requires the use of an optic to shoot anything consistently since there are no irons. If you were planning on installing a variable power scope, that won't matter anyway.

If you are going hyper-light and portable, get the TD lite and purchase the magpul x-22 backpacker frame. You could also go the opposite way and purchase a regular TD and get an Archangel stock, unless appleseed bans aftermarket stocks.

Or just do both.

Because it comes with their "modular" stock system and a unique barrel.

Barrel: Cold hammer-forged barrel tensioned in aluminum alloy barrel sleeve features a 1/2"-28 threaded muzzle and is fitted with a thread cap which can be removed to allow for the use of muzzle accessories.
16.12" barrel.

I just bought a takedown yesterday (model 21181) that has the traditional stock (in unique bronze color) and 16.4" threaded barrel. $259.99 plus tax and DROS. Rohnert park sportsman warehouse
