Default Connecting Android phone to your NAS

Network Access Storage

I just bought a Belkin N600 wireless router with USB.
For testing , I connected a USB stick with video, songs & pics.
I have a Samsung S5 & from reading, most folks recommended ES File Explorer.

I installed ES on my S5 & it connects to my NAS & I can see the files on the USB stick....
but the new ES File Explorer is crap now with all the adds & bloat ware.
https://www.androidpit.com/this-is-w...-file-explorer

I want to remove ES & try to configure my S5 without using third party apps.
I hate most apps because they pretty much want complete Admin permissions over your entire device.

The S5 has an FTP app , can I configure that to connect to my NAS?
It also has, connect to Nearby Devices , but it says, 'No nearby Devices'
I mostly want to connect on wireless LAN , & I also have a free dns so that I can access on the internet.
(IP video cam)

What is a good solution ?

edit ; My S5 has Root access & Root Browser, but I cant find the network drive in the Root menu ....

Does Belkin have any downloads for the router? I have an Asus and the app works pretty good at accessing USB from the router.

Yes, Belkins Android app is Twonky free 30 day, then $20.

I will probably buy a $2. file explorer, but I wanted to know if there was a geek workaround first

Since I have Root & Root Browser

It works now with ES file explorer but adds keep popping up...

edit; I swear, I'm NOT trying to save $2.
a lot of APPS are things that tech geek people can program their phones to do.
I want to learn how to connect my S5 to my NAS using features I may already have on my phone....
I'm still reading links.

I did everything here successfully, but it does not go in to any detail on how to access the data
from an Android phone.

there wont be any decent native apps, try root explorer or even the regular explorer version from speed software, you can add a 'server' for smb

ES File Explorer was pretty good until security issues cropped up.

I'm using FX File Explorer and it works fine with my NAS.

Thanks for the answers guys, I'll try digging through my root browser, it seems to be the same as a 'root explorer' ,or I'll get that FX Explorer.
Thanks

I believe I have seen Android apps support connections via NFS, SMB, FTP, SFTP, etc., so I am sure you can find a way... if you enable the correct protocol via the box that actually accesses data (Linux to Windows).
