Default Vortex Venom vs. Burris FF III (Mueller Quick Shot)

I am considering buying a red rot in the $200 range. Have been looking at the Vortex Venom and Burris FastFire III. Anyone try both and can compare?

Any others I should look at?

Have also considered a Mueller Quick Shot, and spend the rest on ammo. If anyone can comment on that. TIA

I have a Venom and a few FFIII...

They are very comparable, but I prefer the FFIII - primarily due to brightness settings and controls (again, they are similar but the Burris is more concise and distinct)... The Venom has a better cover (the hood on the FFIII is hokey).

If one is cheaper than other, get it... If they are same price, I'd get the FFIII (I have three FFIII and one Venom - for what it's worth).

Another low priced contender is Redfield Accelerator... I have one on a shotgun and would get another... Wouldn't recommend over the other two, but it's cheaper and worth the price.

Seriously, if I was going to spend $500 for a long gun sight, I would buy EOTech. That is more a super lightweight handgun sight.

Thanks, but Like I said, I am looking in the $200 or less range.

It's not 500. The eotech would be heavier.
They have reflex sights under 300.
It was a suggestion

Even though it's not in the category OP is looking for, it looks like a pretty neat mrds... I wasn't aware of it - but am intrigued... I'm gonna keep an eye out and see if price comes down or on sale (doesn't look like too many carry it yet)... Thanks for posting it.

BTW, I didn't see anywhere selling for under 300 - but saw a couple in the 360s

How's the battery compartment on the Venom and Razor? FF3 is pretty fragile.

I can't speak for the poster you quoted or the Razor - but Venom and FFIII are comparable (I haven't had a problem with either)... The Redfield Accelerator is a bit of a pita, but once battery is installed all of them are a non-issue... And changing batteries isn't so frequent that it makes a difference (IMO)

When I said I couldn't tell much difference I wasn't thinking about battery installation. I hate installing batteries on the Fastfire III and Venom. The fine threads are a royal pain and easy to cross thread. The Razor is much easier. There is a compartment on the side that pops out that the battery fits in.

I feel like if I insert a battery ten times into a FF3, I'm gonna screw up a retainer tab nine times, hahah. They should use better hardware in there, and the aluminum is soft as hell.
