Default Panoche Hills November Time Frame

Hey,
Who's interested in heading to Panoche when it opens back up for vehicles? I would like to get a few people together and have fun. Experience is not necessary. I was a marksmanship instructor and CQB instructor in the Marine Corps. I have plenty of experience.
Lets throw some ideas out there and plan something out. I think it could be a fun opportunity to meet some new people eat some good food, good fun and sling lead.

Never hiked it, always drove it, and even then it's quite a drive - a few minutes drive for sure. I certainly wouldn't want to walk it carrying lots of gear unless absolutely necessary for survival, for example.

I decided to go to the Pinnacles and hike instead. I was in the Marine Corps for 8 years so I don't mind the hump in with gear. However I'm planning on going when it opens for vehicles would anyone be interested in meeting up for a shoot then?

It's north of you, Central Valley near Fresno. It's BLM land really fun place to go shoot.

I'd be in depending in dates. If its during the week I may just stop by to take a look, I have to service a radio tower at the summit of PAnoche peak so I may have to somehow dispatch myself for that site.

I'd bring my ar and my son with a ruger 10/22.

Sounds Good, the date is really dependent on consensus, I make my own schedule so I'm good whenever.

So here is the list so far of attendees and guns:

SgtPengelly (AR, USP Compact .40, Remington Police .308, Savage .17 and a KSG, or Saiga if I can find one close enough to me!)

Andy75

CZSP-01-9MM (depending on the date) (Cz sp-01,Cz 612 hc-p 12 gauge, New model Blackhawk 6in 357, Maybe marlin 795)

Outkastcrl + 1(depending on the date) (AR, Ruger .22)

MCRDSD911 (Glock 9mm)

If anyone wants to bring a first time shooter I would be more than happy to help them become comfortable with the sport, the .17 is a fun gun to shoot, has little to no kick.

Me and MCRDSD911 have some targets we made, I also have a bunch of old hard drives that need to be destroyed, I would have to smash them with a sledgehammer but this will be more fun. I will bring a grill and probably some Costco Polish and hot dogs, and lots of water and lots of trash bags.

Lets keep the word out there and see if we can get more. Also when we are done we can do a quick police call/sweep of the range and more as a show of good faith to the BLM. We can throw all the trash in the back of my truck and ill take it to the dump.

In the event we get wet weather at around that time of year. Would non-4-wheel drives be safe to take up the dirt/paved road?

Non 4 wheel drives will work up to the main entrance, I have 4x4 we can stuff some people in to get to the shooting area, as we get closer I will make a map and probably go out there and recon it a week or two before we go out there.

Someone should think about bringing a fire extinguisher. Seen one to many grass fires there even during the none fire months. Just my $0.02

Post Panoche or Tumey

Hey everyone, just wanted to update who is all coming and start getting a location and date locked in.

So far we have:

SgtPengelly (AR, USP Compact .40, Remington Police .308, Savage .17 and a KSG, or Saiga if I can find one close enough to me!)

Andy75

CZSP-01-9MM (depending on the date) (Cz sp-01,Cz 612 hc-p 12 gauge, New model Blackhawk 6in 357, Maybe marlin 795)

Outkastcrl + 1(depending on the date) (AR, Ruger .22)

MCRDSD911 (Glock 9mm)

DWMMATT23 who is bringing the armory (AR15, Saiga 12, Mosin m44, 10/22, Glock 22c, XDs, P938, Lcp, Sr9c, Kimber ultra carry ii, Springfield 1911)

Its shaping up to look like we are going to have a fairly decent turnout.

If anyone who's is coming or even those who aren't could throw out a date range that is good for them, and your preferred location (Tumey or Panoche).

You in broncobob?

I'll wait till I can drive in. Old legs don't like walking up a hill for that distance. By the time I got up there it would time to leave.

Thanks for asking

When does the gate open for the drive in area? Is it a specific date or just whenever BLM decides to allow vehicle access?
