Leupold MARK AR Question
I built my first AR last weekend. It went great took it out test fired no explosions also great!
Necessary Rifle Specs: - DPMS Flat Top Upper - M4 style collapsible stock I want to purchase and mount the Leupold MARKAR 3X9X40 DPX. My questions are as follows: - Do I need a Picatinny rail extension to get the correct eye relief? - Is there a one piece mount that would give me the correct scope clearance and comfort that is quick release? (Is quick release just asking for trouble?) - Are there any concerns about this particular optic and its durability and performance? Thanks in advance for your thoughts and considerations. Probably not what you are looking for but I just mounted a Weaver V16 with .223 bullet drop marks on my Stag bull barrel AR with tallest EGW rings. I tried a picatinny elevation unit and it was a POS.

Larue is the way to go if you want a QD mount.
If you can live without QD you can save a few bucks with a Burris PEPR. FYI a one-piece cantilever mount is a big plus over rings. The problem with rings is that it's sometimes impossible to get both rings on the upper receiver. You don't want to have one ring on the upper and the other on your rail because in the event that the rail loosens a little, it could torque your scope. |

GG&G Accucam is my personal favorite quick release. It is the perfect length to come exactly to the end of the rail on the upper receiver with a BUIS like the Troy, or Samson at the rear. Very lightweight on the one piece base/ring units, though like the excellent Larue, pricey but worth every dime!
