Default Axis deer hunt in Lanai...

Anyone ever done it before? This is the first year I didn't draw a standby number, and I've got a group of...6 or 7, that are planning on going this year.

Lodging. Lodging is key.

I'll spend a bunch of time figuring stuff out later this week, but it looks like that will be by far the most difficult thing to acquire for a reasonable cost!

I know nothing about Lanai, but I would bet vrbo will get you lodging for less than any hotel/resort. That's assuming vrbo units are even available on Lanai...I have no idea about that.

Good luck though - sounds like a great trip!

There's three available on Lanai. I booked one last night as a backup, free cancellation until Feb 4, so I have until then to figure it out.

I will do a full trip writeup from the idea a couple years ago to it happening this year, if it goes off like I hope it will.

Well, three VRBO and zero AirBnB available, and the rooms at the only hotel on the island start at $1200/night...

Call the guy who owns the island. Larry Ellison ought to be able to help you out.

Public land hunt. We're not hunting Company land.

Pretty much have it all figured out and dialed in. It ain't cheap, but it's not as much as an elk hunt!

6 weeks to go! 3 tags, 2 day hunt, working up loads for the rifle I want to take tonight. Can't wait!

My daughter worked with cattle ranchers on this island.

Hunting these deer is like shooting fish in a barrel. They are everywhere, there are no predators and they are not afraid of humans.
