Seven_Duce, are you sure it was this model?

I saw one at my local Walmart but it was the cheaper non illuminated BDC reticle for $189.

I'm hoping the illuminated versions go in stock soon as well...

Yes I'm positive it was the same exact model
I returned it and ordered one from swfa with a mount for $273 shipped I'm in no hurry so I can wait

Also they had a surefire forend for an 870 I believe for $300 something this was yesterday, they expanded their sporting goods section and are carrying more firearm related stuff like rifle cases and more cleaners

wow, decent stuff for a Walmart...

What did you think of the PCL?... did you have a chance to check it out much before returning it?

I fondled it for a while before I returned it, but I couldn't mount it because I didn't have a mount. I also didn't install the battery, I just looked through it without it. I took some pics of the reticle but they didn't turn out well. The scope felt a little heavy built solid, I think it's like 17oz. The glass was clear, at 1x I couldn't make out the hash marks all i could see was the horse shoe I don't have 20/20 vision so your results might differ. At about 2-2.5x I could start seeing the hash marks. The lever turned smoothly and wasn't easy but not too hard just right for my preference.

Turrets clicked and had a positive feel.

This 1st pic is at 1x crapy pic, was kinda hard holding the scope in one hand and aiming the camera in the other
The rest are at 4x

All in all i think this is a great scope for under $300

For 225 dollars I am very skeptical of this comment " no real noticeable chromatic aberration." Every cheap/inexpensive scope I have see suffers from CA and less than steller optics in general.

Sure, the scope had a very minimal amount. But, if you're looking at optics in this price range, you shouldn't be concerned about chromatic abberation. If that is your concern, youre in a much higher level off the bat.

I've been following this thread, so I guess it's only fair that I give my input now.

I bought one of these recently, and I gotta say, it's a damned impressive scope for the money. The glass is not amazing like an Accupoint, but it's good enough. Everything else is pretty much top-notch. That includes the illumination, which is easily daylight visible. I wish I had a Viper PST to compare it to...

Anyways, it's mounted up on my Cali-illegal AR-15 on an ADM-Recon-30 mount. Looking forward to taking it to the range for a better report.

Trevor, you might want to have the description changed in the AR91424... it says it's the PCL Throwdown (FFP) at $193 http://www.opticsplanet.com/bushnell...iflescope.html ... that is gonna piss a lot of people off when they realize it's really the regular 223 SECOND FOCAL PLANE scope (with no throw lever): http://www.bushnell.com/tactical/rif...tics/1-4x-24mm

Granted, the site does have the real PCL listed: http://www.opticsplanet.com/bushnell...iflescope.html - but it's $289.

I was two seconds from cancelling a competitor order and ordering from Optics Planet... thankfully I researched the actual model number... adding the "I" to the model number makes a HUGE difference in product! http://www.bushnell.com/tactical/rif...throw-down-pcl

Cabelas has both. The one with the BDC and the PCL with the BTR-1. The PCL is listed for $279. It should be here tomorrow so I will post pics when it arrives.

cool, I hope it's the one you're expecting... I wish they would list the model number so we'd know for sure...

are you basing it on the BTR reticle?

Sportsman's warehouse in Redding had 1 of these in last week. I really liked it and am looking for a 30mm scope in a 1-6x. I almost bought it, but wanted a higher power. I really wish that the ARoptics line made the whole line in 30mm instead of 1" like they did. Really a bummer.

Im basing it off a couple of things. The price is in line with what everyone is charging, the reticle, only the PCL in the ar optic line comes with it and the description in the add. It describes both the BDC and the PCL model. Also the PCL is illuminated and my invoice says illuminated on it. So unless Bushnell released an illuminated one without the PCL, that is the one I ordered.

I'll let you know tomorrow when UPS gets here around 5 pm.

Sweet! Congrats... Looks like these will be hitting retailers now.

What are your initial impressions? I can't imagine it not being worth the price-point - but hoping to be above expectations ( considering price)

My first impressions is for a $300 scope its really nice. Glass is much better than can be expected and I like the idea of the PCL. I can see that coming in handy when I finally get around to doing some matches. The clicks are nice and audible. I ended up going with the Nikon Mount cause I just couldn't bring myself to get a Larue. I may still do it though. I'm going to mount it on my rifle and I will report back.

I will know more this weekend when I get to the range.

If you're not stuck on a mount yet, or can return it, you could always get an American Defense mount. I have one, but am waiting on this scope to fill it. My rifle is currently wearing a carry handle just so I can shoot it.

Well the Nikon mount is nice, its just not a quick detach. It is solid. I kinda like it on the rifle. Feels very solid but I would like it better if it was QD. Kinda makes me having BUIS on the rifle useless. I like the American Defense mounts its just I have used Larue mounts in the past and they have never failed me. I should have just sucked it up and spent the extra $100.

Now back to the scope. I am liking it in my initial impressions. The reticle is very quick to pick up. I probably wont be using the hold overs but you can see them very well at 4x. Its nice that its FFP but to really make it worth while I think the reticle would have needed to be a little bigger. All in all so far I think its more than worth the money.

^^^ good to hear (read)... I'm looking forward to getting mine... As to the reticle size, I think ffp is a great benefit (even if reticle seems small) - that's one negative I have about Viper PST 1-4X24

+1 on ADM... I have a few... For a scope this size, the Scout would be fine (it's reasonably priced - Primary Arms is a good source)... Burris PEPR is another decent choice at good price ( I favor AMD though)... You're right about LaRue - great quality and simple function ( less clutter than ADM and Burris)

In case anyone else is looking butler creek caps are 02a for the objective and 16 for the eye piece. I should get to finally shoot it tomorrow. I'll report back once I do.

No locking turrets and for under $300 I wasn't expecting any.

Took it to the range this morning and I really like it. I shot indoors and at 4 brightness setting was more than enough. Scope zeroed pretty quickly at 25 yards and I used a 25 yrd/100 yrd zero target. I got zeroed for 100 and played around with the knobs for a little while. Scope tracked very well. at 4x the center dot was very precise and easy to pick up. The horse shoe looked a lit like a red dot at 1x. So far I am very pleased. Looking forward to getting to shoot outside to really stretch its legs. I wish there were more outdoor ranges in SD with steel.

Oh and the throw lever should be standard on all scopes form now on. That thing is awesome.

finally received mine (I guess SWFA is behind the big boys on manufacturers lists)

First impressions; seems a bit on the heavy side (heft often equates to quality built - but it also adds to overall rifle weight)... it's not so heavy as to be a hindrance - the only other 1-4 I have to compare are Viper PST which is actually a little longer, but over an ounce lighter and a Konus M30 which is over an inch longer and about the same weight.

The reticle is a bit small on low power (again, I'm used to PST) - but I love the fact that it is FFP!!!

Glass is pretty clear - very good quality for a sub $300 scope! I'm used to throw levers on all my scopes, but the fact that it is built in saves me $55, so that's a plus and I really like that it folds down. Clearly the throw lever is a big seller of this scope - and for those that haven't used one, it's not a gimmick - once you use it you'll want one on all your scopes.

I haven't even mounted it yet - but am very pleased with the purchase. At $241 shipped it's one of the better optics purchases I've made.

* At the risk of seeming like I over-hyped the throw lever - I have a MGM Switchview for sale in this thread: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=830109 - it obviously wouldn't be necessary for the PCL scope, but if fits a variety of scopes (size is listed in thread) - sorry for the OT

LB,

Glad you're liking it. Still hard to believe what youre getting for that price. Hopefully we see more with features like that and the lower price points soon.

I originally thought the same thing but after playing with it a while and shooting it at the range I think I know what Bushnell was going for.

I think they wanted it to basically be a red dot when used at 1x. I don't think they meant for us to use the hold overs at 1x hence the size. Especially when you zoom in to 4x you can clearly make out the hash marks and the horse shoe. At 1x the horse shoe looks like a red dot to me.
