Gun Belt...Game Changer!

Today on the range a guy asked me the most important over looked component for EDC…I told him it was a belt, and if he was going to get one, Kore was the standard. I also HIGHLY recommend the 2.0 Kore EDC belt...I am the Director at Blue Ridge Marksmanship and wear a pistol daily..FYI, if you do not know how important a belt is, please listen up. A belt should be tough, stiff and yet not scream ‘I am a commando’. My Kore belts do all of this well! I have one for EDC (canvas type but with a cool buckle) and a leather one for more formal actives... again, this one has a nice buckle too. What are your thoughts?

I couldn't agree more about the belt.

I had a couple belts includes a good EDC belt that I got free from Stealthgear.

I replaced it with an Ares Gear Aegis Enhanced Belt.

It's very stiff and it was night and day difference with my other belts.

I especially like the "infinite" adjustment with the slide buckle.


Best advice I can give... Find a good stiff EDC belt that works for you.

I found the Ares by searching and seeing reviews on YouTube.

PS: It seems like going up one size is the norm for EDC belts. The one I didn't I wished I had but I don't usually wear that belt anymore.

You couldn’t be more right. The belt is the most important gear in your setup. I use a cheap Velcro Blue Alpha belt as my EDC. I also have a Beltman and Frank Proctor Way of the Gun belt but they’re stored away in my closet.

Beltman for me. I'm old school and like high end, hand cut, hand stitched, hand burnished leather and exotic hides, MADE IN AMERICA. I get them with liners, they are super tough, stiff, and definitely don't scream commando. They also compliment my Nightingale holsters nicely, and I can swap out my buckles to suit my mood or dress.

You'll never see one of those made in China Kore belts with a rodeo buckle I'm guessing

A good belt is critical. Kore may make a decent belt...but they're hardly a "game changer." There are plenty of other belts on the market that do what the Kore does.

Do you sell Kore belts?

OK team I will be the turd in this punch bowl, I sell EDC gun belts both Nexbelt (which is like Kore but better), Daltec Force and Bull Belts. The belt is helpful but depending on holster type and weapon it is not necessary. I have equipped law enforcement from patrol, gang enforcement, FBI and others, I have equipped civilians of all builds, and health. If you use a Belly Band you don't need cloths, if you use a friction holster the belt is an option. 95% + of women don't wear belts and can easily carry IWB with a kydex holster thanks to a range of products most notably the Ulti-Clip.

A good belt is helpful, but I have posted a number of studies that show that most police injuries come from their duty belts. The belt is far more important if your carrying OWB than IWB.

I appreciate that Blue Ridge Marksmanship wants to run a product add, but realistically the blanket statement lacking type of weapon, carry system, location and the associate kinetics is over the top.

My first EDC belt was a Hank's. Still wearing it. Added more holes cause I am losing weight, but it still works fine. I have been looking at the ratchet style belts but golly $$$$.

The price is going up because they are made in China and shipping and tariffs have hurt, but they aren't that much more than other types. There are two quality brands Kore and Nexbelt, of the two I prefer Nexbelt, but once you have one you won't wear another type of belt.

I read about Graith belts in a Greg Ellifritz article and figures for the price it was worth a try.

Ellifritz was quite correct in his assessment, great belt at a great price.

The Aegis Ares is very comfortable with the very adjustable buckle. Quality appears to be top notch. It’s my go to casual belt. Still use a Beltman when I want something nicer looking with a suit.

I use a 5.11 slider that I got from Turner's for $30. It looks like a hiker's belt, is made of nylon and metal, and will last forever.

I run a Ranger and Aegis depending on the attire. Both are top notch, best belts I've had by a good margin for carrying.

Hanks belt for me since I'm a professional office jockey. Full nylon or tactical belts looks awkward with business dress. Keep an eye out for the Less Than Perfect to save some money.

I agree a proper belt makes all the difference for CCW. KORE belts are the best I have found. Stiff, light and perfect for office wear. The ratchet and interchangeable buckles are so cool!

After trying a few different brands of $50-$70 leather belts past couple years, I decided to go with Blue Alpha Gear belts for all my pants.

Like them so much I wear them as regular non carry belts as well.

I completely agree. As an owner of 2 of the KORE holster belts I still find that they're terrific. I threw out my other gun belts. I've had them for 3 years and they hardly show any wear. the best part is how the track keeps my 1911 right to my waist. Still Stiff enough to do the job even after all these years and comfortable enough to wear all day.*

I completely agree. I tell anyone who is interested in carrying to get a good holster and a good belt. I too am a huge fan of beltman. I have 4 beltman belts for dress and casual. After 10 years of regular use, they still look great. If you are tight on cash, he runs regular deals on blem belts.

A belt, for those that can/do wear them, can be essential for EDC. Like said above, it does depend on things though.

I like my Kore belts but I tend to wear my 5.11 Double Duty belt more often because several times the Kore buckle has come off the belt leaving me in an awkward situation holding my gun heavy pants up in public. Being a slider buckle it is infinitely adjustable.

I like the concept of the Nexbelt buckle with the additional set screws to help retain the buckle on the belt. I might try one of them if I can find a buckle and belt combo I actually like.

How did the buckle come off? Are you using the 2 set screws that come with the buckle? I'm not using those screws yet, but might now if that's the reason your buckle came off.

As a side note, KORE Customer Service has been pretty bad. I was in an email conversation with them about a potential missing part (Belt Keeper) and they confirmed I did not receive one and that I could purchase one and they'd credit me (less shipping). That was on June 6th.

When I tried asking a follow-up question (on 6/6) they've gone dark. I tried following up 4 days later and no response either. I'll try following up again today to see if they are just ignoring me now.

My buckles don't have any set screws on them (none of the three do). They must be an older version.

This one has worked well for me for 2.5 years, and also made in the USA, but it's starting to break down a bit. I'm going to spend another $25 or whatever and get a Beltman.

I'm a DeSantis guy myself, but doesn't really matter to me as long as it is well made and designed for the job. The reason I can carry a Smith 1006 IWB with no issues is all about a good belt.
