Doesn't that also read as long as you don't start Dros. You will be able to return it without significant fee ?

Its only.possible to return it before accepting it.Minus shipping. Minus 3% fee. Maybe minus 15% restocking. That's their policy.

So you are potentially out $70-120 if they send you a busted up not-as-described item it looks like.

If they send me a busted up not as described item, they will be taking it back and dealing with my CC company on a chargeback if they try and jam me for any fees. I might be willing to pay shipping, that would be it. I always hate to file a claim but I'm not going to be jerked around.

Their policy goes out the window the moment they fail to fulfill their end of the bargain. I ordered in good faith based on their video and their description. They always have the opportunity to call me before shipment if there is any question or discrepancy as to the item condition, and send me a picture - this is 2015 for cripes sake. They seem to have no problem pumping out Youtube videos, they can't tell me they don't know how to email a picture. Then I can wave them off if I don't like what I see, and no harm no foul. But if they send me a pile of junk, I'm not paying them a fee to fix their mistake.

Stock dings and dents I'd be ok with.

But cracks like the ones posted in this thread are not acceptable on a "hand selected" rifle.

What about aa non hand selext rifle that had been referred to from everything from good to very good to excellent by the vendor, and priced accordingly

Update for those not following the other sites
-They're taking that really awful one on gunboard back and covering return shipping.
-People on the Facebook group mentioned above have been posting pictures and some of them look pretty sweet. Others plain but decent.

Fingers crossed.

AND they put out a video, showing tons of "good" condition M39. sending a crappy one is bait and switch.

most of us (me included) saw the video and bought one. I picked hand select, at worst, I expect to receive the worst condition one in the video.

Here is my Sako Hand Select. I don't know much about these Finnish rifles and would appreciate anything that you can tell me about it.

Let's keep in mind that we are seeing the more extreme cases being posted up on Gunboards. There are a silent majority of satisfied buyers who are not posting pics of their rifles.

Is that a Finn hang tag on it? If that's not a tag and par for the course, $425 shipped was about $50 too much.

I'm guessing it's a post war replacement stock, since there is no SAKO gear wheel on the side of the butt. I guess that's not one of their criteria for a hand select?

Still looks like a decent rifle and most likely will be a fine shooter.

Default Oh snap! Classic has M39's!

Bluing is about 40%
But the nice stock makes up for it.

Check underneath the rear sight post where you should see 2 pieces of wood interlocked. If they have rounded "fingers" its wartime stock.

What year is it?
If its early war check to make sure there's a "D" stamp.
Also would be good if there's an "SA" stamp which is the army stamp.

Overall looks good. Stock is good, check the bore and I'd say its gtg.

LOL... if you don't find the splice up front... check under the rear sight

Wood under the front sight post? Must be some ultra rare variant I've yet to hear of. Pics or it didn't happen.

There's not a post on the rear either, it's just a rear sight or rear sight ladder... you'll need another edit.

I'm still bummed these aren't coming from Pat Burns anymore as they used to - fully described and accurately graded.

I got a beautiful 1943 Sako with 100% blue, beautiful wartime stock, perfect bore for $375.

I hate to tell you this but EVERY rifle in the Classic video they posted looked better than what I've seen people getting so far, including "hand selects."

Hoping to see some of the good ones soon.

That's a Tenn.Guns tag. They have them on their surplus rifles like the K98's, and M91-30 rifles. The hang tags are more buff in color, and written in pen, not printed. About the same size.

I got my tracking number today - UPS Ground from NC is 5 long days...

EDIT: and more unhappy campers coming out of the woodwork on Gunboards today, with one or two decent rifles making appearances.

More cracked tangs on facebook. I'm not too hopeful at this point. A crack behind the receiver should never have made it into a hand select pile.

Shipment #2 for classics rolled in. A few duds in the mix, but overall most look decent like the first video. Sucks the video is not high enough resolution to see all the details.

At 6:04 they walk back what standard grade is. Instead of 'Good - Very good' we get "they are what they are"

And then he explains that 1 of 10 riles in a layer were like that. Yet they are still going to charge some sucker full pop? I'm hoping for the best but planning for the worst.

Does anyone have an idea of when these M39s will be back in stock? Can't wait to pick a few of them up.

In the second video, I winced when he dragged one rifle over another. Yikes!

Lol, at about the 6:20 mark in the secomd vid, Brutus pulls out a rifle with a gnarly crack running from the stock sling (side) swivel downward to the buttplate. He said that rifle (VKT) would ship as a non HS rifle. Unless Classic changes the product description on the second batch, knowing I could get a rifle with a slight crack is one thing, but the crack in that rifle would would be unacceptable...

Classic pulling down that youtube vid would indicate they may be rethinking their marketing strategy. Maybe one of the top doggs did not approve of the way Brutus was handling the rifles...

Looks like they have some M39s back up for sale - only standard VKT and Sakos though. Call me a cynical, but these are prolly the first batch of returns...

Nevermind - just refreshed and now they are out of stock again. Maybe they are just jiggering their webpage for the next batch.

Has anyone else received shipping confirmation? Ordered on 9/11 and have only received a receipt, no shipping info yet.

For the record, Pat Burns wasn't always so accurate on the description either. Several years ago, I bought what I thought was a beautiful example only to have it arrive with cracks in the stock. I paid to ship it back then paid for shipping for its replacement. I got a nominal discount but ended up paying something like $40 extra for their mistake. Just a risk of buying things by mail...
