If that is all you have it can work, but barely. You will be extremely range limited and the slow speed of the round severely negatively impacts penetration aslo. It would not be my first choice. Think of it this way, you're basically shooting a round with just slightly better ballistic performance than a 200gr 45acp load.

It is also not a hunting bullet. Try to find a rifle that is more of a hunting rifle shooting hunting bullets.

Start reloading. You can use any .308 lead-free bullet.
For example, this one from Barnes. Reloading date here. I'd stay within 100 yards with that round...

Thanks, I'm actually searching for equipment now, but both the Dillon and the Lock-N-Load all seem to be out of stock. The wife said I could get one, but to get it right the first time. She doesn't want me cheaping out and then having to buy another one.
I have experience with Dillon in the Square deal but that won't load rifle, so I'm searching. |

If you can get the shot on the brain box, it would be okay.

If you had dies and brass I could load some for you with non-lead Hunting bullets but all I have are 130 and 150gr in .308 bullets. The non-lead(IE Barnes, Horhady, Nosler) work best(expand) better the faster you push them. A heavy, slow combo for your dartridge would have little expansion and thus a high chance of a wounded animal. Unless a brain shot.

I have the eBay watch going on a few presses that have my attention. Auction ends tomorrow so hopefully..... Is there a favorite load for pigs anyone might care to share. That's probably like asking what's your favorite color, but it gives me a place to start.
Thanks for all the suggestions and help. |

Those lead free bullits are long. Normal 180gr softpoints are 1.16" but these Barnes TSX of the same weight are 1.65". You better check that they'll fit before your start reloading them.
