Ya... my collection of black t-shirts has grown exponentially in the last year.

In part thanks to Woot screwing up and sending me 5 shirts when I ordered one... they gradually came in over a 2 week period.

Wife joked that it was too bad they didn't do that with the $40 towel set.

That is my deal too. I wear black pants a lot. I ALWAYS... ALWAYS... ALWAYS... wear a black under-shirt (tank or tee) no matter what top shirt I wear.

Question for you guys who've renewed. I'm a year from expiration, should I think about putting in my renewal soon? Thanks

Really, how fast are their renewals, that seems like an unrealistic time frame.

Someone posted recently that it took just a few weeks. They also said that they had their new permit in hand before the old one expired. And the best part was that the new permit was good for two years from the date that the old permit expired.

Yep... Seems like Orange County is re-running the full process including background. SB is very quick.

Yes. Davore is not a city, it's an unincorporated area of San Bernardino.

The range is in the County area near Muscoy/Verdemont/Glen Helen. They refer to it as being in Devore but it isn't.

Correct DEVORE is a community not a City.

Renewals are usually a few weeks but don't count on that and wait till the last minute!!
Your active date and expiration dates should never change. So two years from issue to expiration every cycle.

Ok cool, guess I'll resubmit 90 days prior next January. May add a gun but don't think I wanna bother with qualifying on it again now that it's registered. We'll see.

From what I understand it's not that hard to add or change a gun.

Yep... I'm planning on changing 2 of mine at renewal.
When you drop off the application, you let them know that you'd like a modification, and they give you a range card.
Seems that these are usually scheduled for weekdays, so there is not the long waiting time that there is for the original applicants.

A couple of people reported that they qualified, then took their class a week or two later and their permits were available at the end of class.

It must be registered, and the caliber and configuration must match the registered information.

SB doesn't care if it's off-roster or even if it was purchased through SSE, but the information in AFS must match.
For SSE guns, the easiest way to go is to "launder" them by doing a pawn-and-return... the new DROS from the pawn shop back to you updates the registry with the new information.

80%, particularly polymer, may be a problem, given that it is not technically possible to serialize a polymer lower to BATFE specs.
BATFE does not require the stupid 3.7oz plate that California will next year, but they do require that the serial number be engraved on a stainless plate that can not be removed.

There's also the civil liability issues.
While SB does not prohibit modifications, they caution against work being done by "Bubba with a Dremel" and recommend that anything other than routine cleaning be performed by a qualified gunsmith.
This is to protect you in civil court... the DA couldn't care less as long as it's a good shoot... but I can see the attorney for the dirtbag that you shot really dragging you through the mud over your "amateur home made plastic gun"

I took the day off hoping to be able to get it. I was in Chino but I had to go home, switch cars, get my cash and head to the post office to get my money order.

Of course since it was Friday traffic sucked. I didn't feel good until I hit the 215.

If I hadn't taken the day off I would have never made it.

Because of CA unsafe handgun laws...
In order to legally make the "80%" into a handgun, it needs to be a dimensionally compliant bolt-action single-shot pistol or break-top single-shot pistol (SSE2).
If you make the "80%" into a semi-auto pistol, then you would be making an unsafe handgun. Attempting to register it, would then document this.

CA marking requirements will require a polymer receiver to have a 3.7oz steel plate for engravings.
The stainless steel plate in the new ploymer80s does not meet CA's 3.7oz weight requirement.

SBSD requires handguns to be registered in CLETS-AFS and the handguns must exactly match what it is registered as (make, model, caliber, serial number).

If you make/register a SSE2 pistol and try to list it as a semi-auto pistol on your permit, then SBSD will reject it. Because, CLETS-AFS will show it as a single-shot pistol (not a semi-auto pistol).

Yep. On the other hand, you can cross that imaginary dotted line at the Colorado river and carry a wagon full of 'em down the street with 33 round mags hanging out the bottom. But think how much safer you are here.

OTOH, as I mentioned, the SSEv1.0, or even SSEv2.0 could be legally "cleaned" using pawn and return, or PPT.

But a homebuild is still a problem.

You legally engrave your information.

Make sure you go to the big building BELOW the range office, they hold the course in classroom C. I was told that I was to meet at the range office so I waiting there today for about 30min before I started to worry as no one else was showing up. Long story short after walking all over this place I found the classroom in a different building that I was told to go to but arrived at 9:05am and apparently it was "almost 10 o'clock" and that I had missed too much (course starts at 9:00am) according to the detective and he wouldn't allow me into the room so have to reschedule. Was a "great day" today to say the least....
