Hold on guys.

OCSD does not require psych evals from all applicants.

Only those with something in their background to indicate that it may be warranted.

Lets not start spreading FUD.

Thank you for the reply TheWoodCrafter. I'm glad that's not the case. Something is amiss then. I'm hoping this isn't being used as a way to arbitrarily discourage select groups (younger women for example) if they don't feel they are the assertive type or capable of making crucial decisions. There's absolutely nothing in the background that should have triggered this extra scrutiny. She hasn't even done Livescan yet.

This is not an attempt to start a flame war... but OCSD would not order the pysch eval unless it was warranted. We live in a litigious society and OCSD is fully aware of being sued because they are "discriminating" against some group of people. Something in your friends background, some statement she made on her application, or something she said to the interviewer triggered the evaulation regardless of what she's said to you.

I'm only aware of two people (there might be more) that have disclosed here on CGN that OCSD ordered a psych eval for them or a "friend". From what I heard the other day they are processing thousands of permit apps each month. Two individuals out of thousands is not discrimination against women... especially since the other person I am aware of is a guy.

That being said, hopefully your friend will proceed with the eval and eventually end up with a CCW permit.

Applied for an interview 10/21/14.

Got the date today....7/8/15!!!

Man that's a long way out. Almost 9 months. Is that typical for OC?

I applied 9/4/14 and received 2/3/15, I am told that the date will be advanced, likely a few times, but have had no contact yet beyond the initial date.

You WILL receive a call or email moving the date forward....it took 2 months for me before they moved it up. Some have been moved up multiple times.

Just got a call from the girlfriend....sheriff just stopped by for res check. Oddly enough...he asked if she lived there.....and when she stated she did...he went, " Oh....he didn't list you on the application as a co-inhabitant"

He then asked if any of the other neighbors knew me as he couldn't use her since I didn't list her as living with me. She directed him to my neighbor across the street and he went there and spoke to him as well.

Odd as no where in any of the paperwork I've submitted do I remember being asked about anyone else that might live in my house. It's NOT on the application and I am positive that it wasn't brought up in the interview.

Weird. Maybe he's a new guy or something.

My timeline so far.

July 29 Inital email sent
July 30 Appt received for 12/9
Sept 4 Appt moved up to 11/4
Oct 14 Appt moved up to 10/15
Oct 15 Interview
Oct 23 Res Check

I know a 'younger woman' who has an OC CCW without a psych evaluation. I agree with the other posters that there was some warning flag that triggered it.

Since I got my O.C. CCW in the spring, I have been slowly working on my wife to get hers. However, now that there is renewed movement on Peruta, I worried that there would be another rush for applications and told my wife Now is the Time!!.

So she gets on the OCSD website and requested an appointment yesterday.

Today she got an email confirming her for Aug 18, 2015

I told her that it would probably move up by a few months. Too bad they are still so backlogged.

Probably been asked elsewhere but I can't find it. Does OC allow non-roster (SSE or one that's fallen off the roster) pistols on your ccw?

If you legally own it in Ca. and qualify with it, you can add it to your permit.

I'd guess she'll get moved up to Feb or March.

How about a 12ga Serbu Shorty AOW? Think they'd allow that on the permit?

Why not? You're not the first I've heard to put an aow on their permit. I say go for it!

This one is going on my permit soon. Carried in a Guides Choice holster. This will be my primary carry for hiking.

How are you guys adding guns to your CCW? Do you just call the number for an appointment and/or fax your training cert?

Havent applied yet but on the application it asks about being convicted of a criminal offense. I was going to check "no" but I have a juvenile record from about 17 years ago when I was 14. I didnt bother to have it sealed when I was 18 as I don't have any documentation of it anymore. Anyone else have a juvenile record and still went through the whole process? Would I still mark no? or??? I can't even remember the dates or any specific information. As a side note, my record is clean after that "incident".

Answer yes and explain it, and be prepared to discuss it at the interview. How old are you now? Assuming it's been a while, you'll be fine. Failing to disclose even though it happened as a juvi could likely get you bounced.

31. I was thinking about answering yes and explaining but I literally have no documentation or anything from it. Maybe I'll ask my mom if she kept it.

Dude, you'll be fine, unless you're a felon, which you're not if you can buy guns. Don't worry about docs; they'll be able to see what the charge and disposition were.

I answered no. But during the interview he asked if I'd ever been arrested....I said not since I was 14. He said "go ahead and put it down" He stated he was sure it didn't matter.....but that it should be on the app. I totally guess-ti mated the years and just noted "shoplifting" and "throwing rocks at cars" as I didn't remember any details of what codes or statutes anything was. He stated that was fine. It didn't hinder me getting my CCW at all.

Hey glad I found this forum. I applied online 1/28/15 and got a response the next day indicating an appointment in Oct 2015. Today I received an
email advising my interview was bumped up to May. So I thought I would have more time to get the documents together and now I'm sorta
scrambling. I need to get a birth cert, so I'm ordering that. As for utility, I rent from a family member and have been a resident for 3 years, and all my
bills are paid online. I do however have my auto insurance with this address and could get a cell phone bill mailed. I have other mail, but none of that
is on the list of approved items. If anyone else dealt with this please let me know. The other issue is my criminal history. I have 2 DUIs on my record
that are over 10 years old. I also have a sealed juvenile record where I pleaded guilty to consensual sex between minors, I was 17 she was 17, and
this other oral copulation charge that was also consensual. You see it's illegal for minors to have sex with each other, the resulting conviction does not
put you on some pervert list or anything. I had my records sealed after the whole ordeal was over. The problem is that this girl was a total nutcase
and it's a long story but she really concocted a BS story from hell and got me charged with a lengthy list of serious felonies. It was all a lie, and the
month it took for her to admit it was BS was the scariest in my life. Still though, having to put those crimes down simply because I was arrested for
them isn't going to look good, and I know that. I just hope they let me explain the charges, it's a situation that should have never happened and it
doesn't reflect ANYTHING about my moral character. Also I don't remember exactly what all the charges were, only the main ones. I have had no arrests or issues since that DUI at 21, I'm 32 years old and a mature adult who
loves his community and respects the law. Please tell me what you guys honestly think about this, and what I should do. Is it even worth it to continue the process and pay for a birth cert, and down the line fingerprints and training ? Will I likely be denied ? Thanks for helping me gather information, stay safe and best wishes.
