Default S. San Francisco "Shoot & Meet"

Trying to find out who would be willing to meet up at Jackson Arms, San Francisco... at a regular basis to do what we love to do. Shoot our guns.

As Jackson Arms can get busy during the weekends. I was thinking about setting something up during a weekday night. Depending what is best day/time for those interested.

PM me if interested with which day and time would be best for you.

If we can gather together once month and make it a regular event. That would be great to exchange stories and firearms knowledge with each other. especially, noobs like me who just started shooting and slowly collecting firearms.

Everyone is welcomed to attend. Just an event with like-minded people.

Best weekdays for me would be Tues/Thurs evenings. Or Sat/Sun right when they open at 10am.

I usually go to Jackson Arms every other Thursday, just before my payday. An evening get together would sound like fun.

I just need to start rolling out some more ammo on my press for my XD.

It does look like that Thursday would be a good day to try and set something up. I'm all for Thursdays, as payday for me lands on thursdays.

This week is shot. (no pun intended).

But as for next thursday, if people are down to hit up Jackson. Send me a PM.

One reason why I'd love to get something done once a month. Nothing better than having some range time with ilike-minded folks. Also, I'm new to guns and getting to see what others have would be like going to Disneyland!!!

Personally, I would be fine going two days a month. One tuesday and one thursday. It all depends on my ammo situation at the time. Some has expressed they are good for thursdays. Others would like to use their NRA discount on tuesdays.

I would encourage those who would like to go on "NRA" tuesdays PM each other and try to get a "Meet" going. Some have PM'd me for a possible thursday "Meet".

Anyone willing to help setup a "NRA" tuesday "Meet" please PM me.

If you wanna make a "shoot and meet" i don't think jackson arms is one of the best places. You're limited to what you can shoot and it gets busy crowded over there. i like the idea but i really just don't think it's a good place to shoot at as a group. I really love that you can rapid fire at large targets center mass, but it's not like you can go boom 10x, then drop a mag and pop one in and go boom 10x more with your 1911 or glock, because if you do expect a tap on your shoulder with an employee saying, "you need to shoot slower". you can get away with rapid fire with any 22 but when they hear .380 and beyond they always get concerned.

Not enough lanes either. Just my $0.02

A group shoot would be nice for bay area folks and i would definitely go to it.

I say we meet up at Los Altos Rod n Gun club.

Now, I know it may be far for some folk, BUT you will not regret the travel for this hidden gem.

-Their safety crew is WAAAY nicer than Chabot gun club's
-100 yard, 50 yard, rifle range
-100 yard and 40 yard plinking range
-Pistol range
-Trap range
-$15 for the whole day
-Fresh outdoor air all day
-In sunny los altos

What i love about Los Altos R&G is that the "cease fires" go by pretty quick and fast because of the range safety officer's communication to the guy above watching everything. it's cease fire, check the guns, walk down range and change targets, come back, and before you know it's "you may walk to the bench and commence shooting". long ceasefire periods at chabot annoy the hell outta me. I swear one time i smoked 2 cigarettes during one ceasefire at chabot

I agree with everything you stated. Los Altos is far for some folks. I just picked Jackson Arms as a start. Centrally located for most within 20-30mins (depedning on traffic) from nearly all directions.

I think once people realize that meets like this can be done on a monthly basis. We could easily change locations for a meet and greet. Especially, when people want to bring out their long rifles for more fun.

I've heard that Richmond has a decent spot too.

I go to Jackson Arms Tuesdays about once a month for NRA night. Just depending on work - lately I've been so busy haven't had a chance to do that.

Interested in these shoot & meets. I will keep my eye on this as a fellow SF shooter.

As long as it doesn't appear their target hangers, walls, or roof are in any danger ,should have no problems doing that.
I had a membership for a while never got tapped on my shoulder. Hell I saw plenty of people that should've gotten a tap that didn't.

I'd ask those interested to shoot me a PM, when they have time. So, I can figure out which days to set something up.

Earliest would be a day next week for a meet.

LOL

No way, I don't believe you!

I have shot my 1911 and CZ there and had 5 ten rounders for the cz and 4 for the 1911. I also had my 1022 and my mossberg 12. Me and my brother were shooting and i remember rapid firing 2 10 round 1911 mags and the 1022 and then 6 rounds of 12G and then one of the workers came in and was like "There's no rapid fire. You can't rapid fire".

and i was like "but it says you can in the lobby 'rapid fire only center mass 7 yards" (or so?)

and he was like, "no, you can't do that here"

lol i didn't want to argue but that ruined my night a lil.

If JA is TRULY a rapid fire place i would go there right now this instant and rapid fire:

-4 eight round 1911 mags, 4 10 round 1911 mags, 2 seven round 1911 mags
-6 cz75 10 round mags
-2 6 round polish p64 mags
-10 ten round glock 17 mags
-9 ten round glock 23 mags
-4 ten round ruger mkIII mags
-5 rounds thru my NAA mini LOL!
-6 rounds thru my 44 mag

I have NEVER hit the hangar or ceiling or walls or floor!

I should ask them if i can rapid fire like that

Remember Thursday night is group night and it always seems to be busy on Thursdays. Discount is 3rd person for a lane is free.

Planning a meet next Thursday night. Then if all turns out decently, maybe setup a meet for Los Altos later in the month... How does that sound to folks?

I'm down for the los altos meet. however i'm not so down for the jackson arms meet because of my ammo stash. I'm trying to conserve my 9mm, 9x18, 40sw, 357 sig, and especially 45ACP. i am really low on pistol ammo it's embarassing. I've got plenty of 7.62x54R and i just wanna plink containers at 100 yards. I can load my truck up with empty gallon containers i get from work.

Oh yeah, and if someone can be so kind if this shooting meet happens, please help me gather brass because I just inherited a Lee Pro 1000 press and I wanna get into reloading.

This is exactly why I would love to get together with other Bay Area Calgunners. My last trip to Jackson Arms, old filipino lady spent an hour policing spent brass while her group kept blasting away.

As for Los Altos, I don't personally have any long rifles and indoor ranges are ok for me. Is there anyone willing help me plan out a Bay Area meet for those who would rather do a Los Altos meet?

So, for those interested..

Location: Jackson Arms @ 152 Utah Ave
Ste 140
South San Francisco, CA 94080

Day: Thursday

Time: 7:00pm (1900hrs)

What to bring: handguns and shotguns of choice, ammo (as Jackson Arms might be out of stock)

After-Action Report: (my fancy way of saying maybe grab some food afterwards) Big Mouth Burgers @ Bayhill Shopping Ctr
851 Cherry Ave, Ste 19
San Bruno, CA 94066

Note: Please send me a PM, so I have an idea how many can make it. As for Tuesday "NRA" night, I'll try to set something up before the month is done. All depends on my ammo status.
