You may get the all the details before the production rolls out. I am meeting with the production team on Tuesday to discuss all product info videos and the like. I don't want to get into the cycle some other companies have gotten into making promises and taking preorders and such. Just know we are working more diligently than ever now to get to market but we are about a month away from the first pre production test models to roll off the line, but I would like to get all details out before then so there is no more mystery.

I, for one, applaud your attitude and appreciate your ingenuity. I look forward to seeing the details. I got several rifles, so the more options the better.

This won't be legal here unless it's used on a featureless rifle.

As stated with a maglocked rifle the mag doesn't drop until the action is opened. Please point out the regulation that say that can't happen

We are still trying to figure out our price structure but I can guarantee you probably won't bat an eye at several units

Legal or not in CA- well, most of us don't have all our eggs in the same basket- featureless, registered BBAW, etc. Like the gentleman said, there will be unit good for featureless, and one for BBAW. If not, at least featureless will be GTG.

I like the idea, if it works well, I need several for AR, and several for Scar 16/17. How about CZ Bren, will it work on it as well?

CZ most likely. SCAR still needs some engineering. Actually a lot of engineering but we won't forget about those who use that platform

From the Homepage: "Calguns.net® The California Firearms Enthusiast's Home." That's not clarification enough?

Sorry you don't care. I would care if I was posting on Maineguns.net, FWIW.

If I was on maineguns.net and there was a discussion about legality I'd have to be an idiot to assume someone wasn't referring to Maine!

Wanted to bump this hoping for new details.

Running something like this would be the only way I keep from detaching all my uppers and lowers and tossing them in the safe.

Pricing? Installation? How it works?

We will get to those details soon enough. Trust that as hard as we have been working for the past year we are in overdrive for shotshow but hope to be to the market well before that

It sounds like an automatic mag release. The maglocked rifle can't release until the action is opened, allowing it to auto release.

Neat idea especially if someone is using a bullet button'd mag release.

For me it's not useful but I can see the fee states liking it!

My video above I'm using it with a bullet button rife. It works flawlessly except when your get a type 3 so back to square one with maglocked rifles and malfunctions

we have you covered California for your maglocked/breaktop AR15. Yes this includes a super fast takedown pin.

It looks like the mag ejects automatically when empty and then you depress the mag release button to insert a new mag.

So basically it sort of works opposite a normal mag release. Tactical reloads are out unless you rack the few remaining rounds out. Malfunctions might be interesting to clear.

I'm trying to wrap my head around the legality of such a device.

to address this depends on which state you live.

The only operation you take out is actually depressing the mag release since the mag already drops out. inserting a new magazine and dropping the bolt are exactly the same...clearing malfunctions is exactly the same. That is if you live in a free state or are running a featureless rifle.

the break top video just shows that you don't have to depress anything when the action is open. It already drops for you. This is legal because the action is open. Clearing malfunctions on a maglocked rifle is a whole different issue since it is nearly impossible to do it quickly.

I wonder how hard it would be (or if it would even be a good idea) to make it so the bolt also closes automatically when you insert the new magazine ("slam charge"). It would take out an additional step, so basically you shoot until the mag falls out, insert a new one and keep shooting, with no buttons to press whatsoever. I'm betting such a thing would not be reliable, but I don't really know. I'm curious if that concept would be doable and/or worthwhile. Could also be used on featureless and RAWs in CA.

I don't know if I'd use that system for a range toy, since I like to keep my mags off the ground when I can, but for a defensive rifle it could be awesome.

We are trying to incorporate it but that's what makes it proprietary to Cobalt Kinetics. Since there is so much mechanics going on there you pretty much have to have a different lower to achieve bolt drop. We are spinning our heads trying to see if it can be done though so we will see. At least for ours you don't have to shell out 3000.00 for the rifle and look like a storm trooper although their rifles look pretty bad ***.

Interesting. Whatever comes of the legality of this particular device, I openly welcome more innovation & the companies that put such ventures forward. Good luck! I'll be watching

That looks like what it is. So you don't need to press the mag release, it just pops out, ready for a fresh one!

Interesting and probably easier to tell when you're empty than just the bolt locking back!

Did some more testing last week getting the rifle canted a little bit to see how it affects mag drop. It obviously won't work well when he rifle is completely sideways but would only require a manual strip without the need to manipulate the mag release

I ran this drill a bunch of times without any hiccups except for getting my sling torqued against the mag preventing it from actually dropping. you can see that its the clip where I physically strip the magazine.

I will say this if you shoot left handed or or practice shooting left handed the mag changes are super quick and simple. As a left hander you may end up running some of you mags on the left side of your hip.

here is some video

So this is not the version that works with Fixed mag?

Also you recommend Gen 1 or 2 Pmags-not Gen 3 right?

For California, would be a 10/10,10/20 or 10/30 with your kit?

Is it just the insert? If so, will you offer completed magazines? Standard capacity Magpul mags/parts are a little hard to get in California.

Also you recommend Gen 1 or 2 Pmags-not Gen 3 right?

For California, would be a 10/10,10/20 or 10/30 with your kit?

...

10/30. It works with gen 3 but not as consistently.

It works with some fixed mag but you need to change the spring.

For featureless we have a proprietary mag release to tune the release as well as turn it off.

Really interested to see if this'll open up some loophole's in the current law for BB/Fixed mag rifles. I'm too lazy to pull laws or really rack my brain, but this would be huge.

I also love the fact that you haven't created a $100 product. While it's nice that other companies are looking out for us, their prices are absurd. I can't imagine a follower being crazy expensive.

I just hope the price is reasonable. To many Cali compliant parts selling for way more than they should.

when the follower reaches the top, it pushes the magcatch out.

smart idea.

even the the mag doesnt drop free because of friction, it is still good as long as you can simply pull it out
