Does anyone know what shank threads the Weatherby Mark V six lug bolt has?

Why would you need to tap the action?
It should already be threaded.
If you are just cleaning out the threads, use an 18tpi chaser and make your own handle.

A lathe.....

You would normally not mess with the action. You would thread the barrel to match the action, also using a lathe.

Thinking about installing in a 700 action with a spacer that I'll make from the 700 barrel, what do you guys think about that?

I think you could make it work, but it's definitely a "kludge" solution.
You would absolutely need a lathe to make such a solution work.

Since you would already have a lathe to attempt such project, your better bet is to just cut the threaded shank off the barrel and then machine a proper shank on the back of the barrel that threads into the 700 lug and action.

That makes way more sense, I really appreciate the advice, thanks!
I've been trying to figure this out for a month, lol, been practicing internal threading just because I don't do it very often...

Internal threading a through-hole is easy.
Chasing an existing internal thread in a through hole is slightly challenging.
The most difficult operation is chasing internal threads that come to a stop in a blind hole.

to me
Don,
Thank you for contacting Weatherby, if that is a factory barrel is should be stainless steel. That was the only barrel we made the 338-06 in and the threads for the receiver should be 7/8 X 18 uns 3A. These were threaded for our six lug receiver.

Regards,
