Friends of NRA Dinner, June 6th

Attention fellow CalGunners. On June 6th, 2015 the NRA Foundation will have it's Southern California, Los Angeles area fundraiser. Once again, it will be held at the Compton Hunting and Fishing Club near the intersection of the 710 and 91 freeways. This is the largest fundraiser on the west cost with great food, raffles, various games and lots of guns given away. There will also be hunting trips, hunting and camping gear and overall cool stuff. Last years event was the highest fundraiser in the west, topping $50,000! All proceedes are tax deductable and the day is loads of fun. Entry including a great dinner is $50 with sponsorship packages starting at $250

We also have a pre-event gun raffle going on now, ending when all tickets are sold. Tickets are $100, with 100 total tickets to be sold, giving away 4 guns! Top prize is a special 1860 Henry Rifle, value $3500, next is a Kimber Pro Carry .45, then a Savage over/under 20g a?.22lr and finally a home defense shotgun. I think its the best odds in town.

If you can attend, the NRA will be greatly appreciated.

We'll be serving smoked pork loin, fried chicken and a skewer of grilled shrimp, salad bar and sides. Lots of games with guns as prizes at this event, including an air cannon to shoot and win tickets for a gun raffle.

Lots of folks get turned off by the Compton location. The Compton Hunting and Fishing Club is at the end of a dead end road in an industrial area where the clubhouse and grounds have been located since the late 1940s, next to the Edison properties with the huge towers. It is "barely" into Compton at the intersection of the 91 and 710 freeways, between the 710 freeway and the LA riverbed. A couple acres of green grass and large shady trees in a pretty private location. First timers are always surprised by how nice the place is... and there have been no problems there in the 10 years I've been a member. The reaction of most folks is "How do I join?" :-)
