It's about time someone started doing 80% 1911's again!

Put me down for 2, plus 1 jig.

So maybe I am missing something, but what is the benefit of the group buy? I see on Ares Armors website, they are already at $99 for the 80% and $129 for the jig, and you can just order it direct now. Am I missing something?

They need to fix that. It's $99.95 to put in a pre order and another $99.95 at delivery. The price seems to have gone up on the 100 price also.

Ahh... coffee failure on my part.

" The MSRP for the Rudius is $249.95 but for those watering at the mouth that want to preorder it is only $99.95 to reserve your Rudius and $99.95 at time of delivery. "

The site also says that if you buy a bulk order of 20, then its $150 per frame ($3000 total), although the description is pulled from the single piece description, so its still has all the stuff about $99 now, $99 on delivery........

Its very confusing.

Confusing is a nice way to put it.

IF standard 1911 parts fit, I'm in for 2 frames and a jig, but that's a big if.

More information to follow - calling the Ares team - no one around, emails not returned yet, no answers on the phone yet - party too hard over the weekend?

well, price up to $125/unit at 100x.

I'm still in for at least 1.

Is it a good time to also talk about getting a group price on parts kits?

All,

News on pricing to follow to be posted by Ares, good news, bad news and good news. Stay tuned! I spoke to them earlier.

* Dmitri and Jeremy will be coming up with a parts list of the parts included on the complete low end and high end parts kits, including brands and models of parts.

* This kit will take standard Series 70 1911 parts.

* The jig will allow you to use a drill press and a router table as the minimally required tooling.

* Polymer grips will be included with the price of the group buy.

* Ares will be hosting a build party on these when they're out and available, as I expect others will.

Keep your questions coming....!

It seems the price of the 80% kits is in flux. Have you nailed down a price yet?

Is there a possibility of the price for the jigs coming down if enough people commit?

Do we have an expected delivery date yet?

Is there anywhere we can see a photo of the grips?

I live reasonably close to Ares. (A good friend actually lives walking distance from them) If I get into this group buy, can I pick up my purchase directly and save on shipping?

thanks for doing the leg work.

I am definitely committed to at least 1.

Also, can I suggest that we pay in full and not in 2 installments? or given the option to pay in full?

Thanks

i have a question

have they done any prototypes yet so we can see real pics and be sure they work and fit standard parts ?

someone posted that they held one in a machine shop in SD ,so there should be pics somewhere ....

the cad drawing look cool but prototype pics would be better , i really would like to see what the grip looks like and how it fits .....

Ok - Ares promised to post and I agreed to give them some time but obviously many people are interested and clearly this is a group effort - so do your best with the messenger please.

As a result of an error while posting on their website as it was coming up, the pricing was prematurely seen by many of us as 102.50 per unit based on 100.

Now we can take issue, etc...but in reality you can see by their increments price was intended at $125.00 It's a little over a twenty spot per frame an grips are included. That is their price-we are only playing weapons/paperweight mule here.

What they did as an accommodation to our group buy ONLY is I drop the jig price to 99.00 given the mixup...

I will ask Jeremy and Dmitri to post pictures of the prototype and upcoming mold as it is built.

As for pickups I imagine we will have Oceanside/San Diego and Huntington Beach as pickups . If someone wants to volunteer to do an LA pickup that works. The rest will be shipped likely ...

Payment in full is certainly welcome.

If the mold for the polymer lower isnt set in stone yet they should add some checkering on the grip strap. Or even do a checkered and non checkered version.

We are working on a computer glitch on our site as we speak. The $10,250 was mis-keyed last night when we were preping everything to upload on the site this morning when we went live with pre-order. None of it was supposed to be viewable until then by somehow it went live on the site about 12 hours ahead of time and after we fixed it this somehow it reverted back. The price for the 100 frame group buy is $12,500. Our apologies for the issues that it is causing but we will have it fixed very soon everyone. And glbtrottr is correct, due to this issue and confussion, anyone jumping in on this GB will be offered the jig at $99.

There will be checkering on the grip. The images that are shown are off the CAD program being used to produce it and it won't show the checkering.

I'd really feel better seeing the prototype pictures mentioned before I commit...

Probably in for 2 frames (at $125/ea or less) and 1 jig ($99)
