I'm very interested in an SF Bay (esp. south) AK build party. So, I'm a 99% newb to AK and don't know where to start so please be gentle.

Anybody care to share good starting points to think about? I basically want KISS, but want to NOT expand to another ammo choice so want .223/5.56.

You're going to need a Galil or one of these Yugo Krinkov kits if you want .223: http://armsofamerica.com/krinkovm85p...arrel-1-1.aspx
I'm sure there are other options, but .223 AK kits are..... difficult to find. Maybe resign yourself to 5.45 or 7.62x39

Default Potential AK BP in Redding

To gauge interest in a Redding BP, please post answers to:

Commitment to be there. (no date planned as of yet)
Type of kit you will be building.

I myself have never built an AK. I am trying to get this together. Earlier in this thread you will find info containing basic parts and equipment required to complete a build. Check it out and post what you will be able to bring.
There will be more Q's to come but this will hopefully kickstart it.

Would it be better to start a new thread with the current situation in the thread name?

PS-I'm interested in a BP, especially if it is at tr80's place where he said there is also a cnc for milling 80% ar lowers.

I have an AK-74, bulgarian kit. Possibly two, depending on when we do this.
