Default Turners ID for ammo???

I was told they ask for ID from everyone now.
I am grey and obviously of age but was asked to get my ID from vehicle.
I was told corporate was asked by ATF to do so.
I think they are cowardice for doing so and walked with out purchasing.

Am I being to picky or should they stand with us and not be doing favors for the ATF?

This is disturbing, maybe as a store policy for practice but I really do hope they are not initiating this early to assist in the structure. This would be a very sad sad thing.

When I bought ammo from Turner's a few months ago, I had to show my DL. The clerk filled out a form with my name, address, caliber etc. And I had to give a thumb print. It's not their fault; they have to do what they're told.

when you say Turners, you need to include more info. Turners has 19 stores in I think 6 counties, and the rules are different in differnt locations.

LA Turners have to comply with city ammo regulations that do require info that other locations don't require.

so, if you had to show ID in LA, that's a city requirement, not just a Turner's policy. now, if you had to show ID in a Turners outside of LA, then that is different.

did they just look at the ID or did they write it down?

It was the El Cajon store.
I spoke with the Manager and he said the ATF asked them to start.
So the company complied. I asked if it were a law and they said no just a request.
I told them I would understand if it were law.
But them doing it voluntarily was not good.

It's funny though they really did say it was to prevent illegal aliens with DL from purchasing ammo.

Paying with a credit card or check? They can ask for ID all day long like any business would in that case. Or did you bring pesos?

Because those are specifically banned in Los Angeles, and Reseda is the only store they have in Los Angeles.

Why are you buying ammo at Turners to begin with? Their prices have been on the high side since the end of 2012.

I deal with the FAA all the time and when they "request" you do something it isn't really a "request."

Since 2002 in the City of Los Angeles, holsters for "ultra-compact handguns" are banned for sale in city limits as well as "ultra-compact handguns" under 6 3/4" long or 4 3/4" tall. Even if they are approved on the DOJ safety roster. They are legal to own, you just can't sell them.

Both Turners Reseda and Alfonso's of Hollywood Leather Company were raided by the LAPD Gun Unit back then for selling holsters for "ultra-compact handguns". The irony of it all was that the holster that Alfonso's of Hollywood got in trouble for was the #1 seller to LAPD officers for off-duty use.
