Someone was selling #1lb'ers here yesterday for $50 .. and getting it!
I've got a big jug and have been using it for .308
It's working out good for me. But I'm a reloading noob and anything I can roll seems good to me if I come home with all my digits. -g

+1 on temp stability. It also bulky so it fills case volume well. Best use is for max loads and under heavy bullets for .223. Not so great a choice under 55gr and lighter with .223

it's good but not that good. there are other extreme powders that work in the same temp range.

I still have 2 or 3 lb maybe I should sell it

well no, it works great in my 150gr 30.06 loads.

I like it... It's probably the most popular rifle powder right now, though.

I've heard good things about Ramshot TAC too but I've never tried it...

Varget is fine.It has been around for a long time as the go to for alot of people.
I actually prefer Reloader or Ramshot.
I bought some Reloader 15 at Ammo Bros 2 weeks ago for $26 lb.
Ramshot Tac I have been getting in the $19-$20 range and even more reasonable if you get the 8 pounders.Of course you have to pay ship/hax mat on top.About $40 on my last order.
The Ram Tac works great in 223 as well.
Order the 48 pounds and spread the wealth with some friends. These days I just buy it and it is spoken for by the time I recieve it.Some mail order places are shipping in 10-12 weeks, but it comes.
All the BS with primers,I ordered 15,000 for $595 shipped/yesterday to be here on the 18th.With shipping it comes to $39.66 per 1,000
Some of these auction prices are funny.I watched a Lee progressive go on ebay for $375 the other day.At Midway or Natchez they are $220 all day long.

And no I do not have any extra already. My network of accomplices have spoken for the stuff already.

I love Varget. It's so versatile. I use it for 223, 6.8, and 270 win.
Since it's so hard to aquire I recently ordered 10lbs of AR Comp. I hear excellent things about it.

I bought the last two lbs Walmart had for $24. I think they were the last two lbs in four counties.

All the 223 stuff on Gunbroker is going for crazy prices. Be smart and wait it out. Varget is a great powder. Very versatile.

I use Varget in my 22-250 because I found it to be accurate and I got it cheap before the rush. There are other powders that are probably just as good, or better, but I stopped developing the load when I got to 1/4" groups an I'm too lazy to go further.

I hear people say that all the time, but is it really any more "versatile" than IMR 4064, IMR 4895, or H380? It has decent performance in .223 and .308, which are probably the two most popular centerfire rifle calibers, and Lyman lists a lot of their "accuracy loads" with Varget, so its good for other applications but its not always "the best". Sometimes it's not worth the hassle of trying to find it...

I've got a sealed 8lb jug that I'd sell for $350.

Just received my order from Midsouth. 4 lbs of Varget and some Titegroup as well. Takes care of that need for now.

Midsouth ships lightning fast- ordered on Saturday and received my order Thursday morning.

The 600/1,000 yard guys are using Varget by the buckets full. The smallest lightgun group ever fired at 600 yards was using Varget.I believe the group was 0.5823 inches.
6BR and 6 Dasher shooters love it.

RL-15, IMR 4064, IMR 4320 IMR 4895, VV-140, VV-150, AA-2495, AA-2520, Win 748 and some others, should fill the bill nicely, in lieu of Varget.

Chris

What native west-coaster references proximity in "counties"? We got an east-coaster on our forum. Sounds like Walmart outside CA is allowed to sell powder.

Ditto on the Varget stability. Me, I'm a BL-C(2) guy for the AR and IMR 4895 for the Garand. Bought 8# of BL-C(2) from Midsouth Shooters Friday 01MAR. Delivering on Monday. Hehe.

To the OP, stay off gun broker unless you insist on throwing your money away.
