Oh noes! rivvie got sucked into buying his first 1911 style automaticy-type weapon. I'm pretty sure the plague or pestilence or something is not far behind, I advise stocking up on water 'n stuff now.

I went with a RIA 1911 Tactical - inexpensive, pretty standard design and known to be solid enough for me not to break it easily. The stock grips had to go though, I found some pretty cheap rosewood checkered double-diamonds that feel OK. That's some fluorescent red Testors paint there on the front sight blade.

My Springfield 1911a1





Its got a mix of wilson, STI, and other parts. Trijicon Night sights. Most notibly a Wilson match barrel and bushing. The most accurate 1911 Ive seen even in my hands

My Wife bought this 1911 in about 1963. I had it accurized by Armand Swensen in about 1968.
