We have been notified this morning that only one Colt pistol will be renewed on the DOJ handgun list for 2016. We don't have the small details but it appears that they have fallen victim to the issues that Ruger and S&W experienced when they made product improvement/changes to listed pistols.

We will be marking down our existing inventory so folks can buy one and DROS before end of business next Thursday.

We will e-mail blast that ad and post it here and on FB as well. Savings will vary by model and range from $100 to $200 off on these remaining models.

Yes via our Colt Rep. Also we've talked with other parties with direct knowledge/involvement.

Yep; just when everyone gets the word out that the law changed a few years back so that all handguns on the list are renewed and relisted on Jan. 1 every year and convince folks that "no, all handguns do not fall off the list on Jan. 1, and won't ever be renewed again", this happens.

In talking to various manufacturers, most of them will be renewing all or mostly all of the handguns they currently have on the roster even though some of them seem to renew right before the year-end deadline.

As mentioned earlier though, Colt has run into issues with changes in their guns where only one of their currently listed pistols will be renewed. The issue seems to be very much like the same issue that Ruger and S&W experienced wherein changes in the handguns caused DOJ to ask for retesting. But that is not possible since all "new" (new, according to the DOJ with respect to internal changes in components) pistols have to include microstamping, so each factory was unable to add the handguns back to the list.

We are marking down our inventory of those pistols that won't be renewed.
These pistols must be DROS'd no later than Dec. 31st.
We will take 30% deposits, with the balance due at pick-up. As always pick-up must be done within 30 days of initial DROS.

The $100 to $200 off on these pistols matches and/or is greater than if we ran these as a Calguns special.

BTW, contrary to some presumptive posts we've read online, we can easily return unsold pistols once these fall of the list. The reason for the markdown is to give folks a great buy on pistols that won't return to the list barring future legal action.

Yep, that was pretty aggressive; the amount we had in inventory relative to the rate they were selling at, it made sense to our buyers to offer a whopper price. Fast forward to today, post Dec. 2nd , and our buyers are still out to offer good deals but are a bit more restrained. But they also chose not to hold at regular retail or up the price.

Based on yesterday's sales on Colts, we could be sold out by Monday, but if we have anything lingering, they'll take a 2nd look. And you nailed it- never any harm in asking.

Went in this morning to see to try and secure one, they were all sold out of colts, at least that's what the sales rep told me.

I was told the same last nite at the Oxnard store,I was trying to secure a
Stainless XSE Govt or Commander model. I would bet there may be one
at another store but there appears no mechanism to facilitate this and
the store is very busy. Really wish Colt had made this info available
sooner. I realize this is NOT Turners fault. Pete

It's been typical post-Christmas crazy on top of these guns falling off of the list so it looks like they moved faster than anyone thought but there may be some display models left. Contact your local Turner's if there is one that you want to look into and they can contact our other stores and see if any are available for transfer to your local store.
