I actually asked icormba about his build and he told me he bought the sr25 rail which is price tagged between 600-700. The urx2, 3.0, 3.1, 4 will not be compatible with the 308 platform because of size.

Here's a neat one I helped my buddy finish and he's letting me post up a photo of his gun up here. There were several parts needing a painter's touch, so since I have all the spraying equipment and Duracoat it was brought to me. The butt stock, F/R iron sights, flash suppressor, and handguard were painted with OD green Duracoat.

AR10 Dissipator, and the ingredient list as follows:

Quentin Defense lower
DPMS HBAR 16" complete upper
Troy TRX 13.8" free float battle rail
Troy squid grips
Troy Harris stud mount
YHM front/rear rail height flip up iron sights
DPMS A2 stock,
DPMS lower parts kit
Bullet button kit
Magpul OD green Zombie Killer grip
DMPS 3 prong flash suppressor
YHM low-profile gas block
GPS grip pod
Zombie outbreak EOtech with EOtech FTS 3x magnifier
Green Tac-Sling
Surefire Flashlight mounted with an old 1" scope mount
There's a decal on the stock that says "Zombie Repellant"

It was a fun gun to shoot and accurate waaaaay out there. I'd hate to be a zombie on the receiving end of this one.

For those that have the Mega Arms barrels, any review on them compared to let's say...DPMS, CMNG, Black Hole Weaponary, or other brands?

Accuracy, weight, and easy of installations? Any preferences with gas blocks?

JD Machine LR308 Matching Set
CMMG 308 BCG
18" Mega Ma-308 Barrel
CMMG LPK
MagPul Pmag Gen3
Troy 13.8 MRF Free Float Quad Rail

Still to come:
Bravo Mod3 CH
A2 or MagpPul UBR Stock
MagPul MOE Grip
JP Cooley Brake (Still debating Large or Standard)
LaRue QD SPR Scope Mount
SWFA 3-15x 42mm FFP

Yea I'm sure it will preform fine. For the longest time I've had this specific look in my mind of a knights M110 with a little SPR twist on it look and I thought the parts I was looking at "mostly the rail" would get me the look I wanted but after installing it's not what I pictured it would look like. I'm hoping when I'm done it will resemble what I wanted and hopefully grow on me.

Pretty much exactly this but with a JP Cooley brake and hidden gas block and in 308.

You will easily get that look. Just the gas block not showing. With your parts list you are there.

eBay has the KAC Rail cover sets for $20. That will get ya closer to the M110 look.

It will look different once you change the stock, also really makes a difference once the optics are also on, maybe also put some color in there. Look at my 2 posts above, the first is before the optics the 2nd is with the optics.

What are you talking about yours still looks ugly! JK

Yea Hopefully it grows on me, I'm thinking of adding color fill on the JD logo and fire safe selector. Might help pop it a little. But I'm going to try and get it finished first. Hopefully when I get to the scope it will come in to its own.

Also what rail mount is everyone using for the Harris pipod hook ups? Forgot harris' hook up to swing swivels not rail mounts.

AD, Laure or GG&G for Q.D.

Or just the Harris, YHM or KAC mount for non Q.D.

Larue has also altered a harris bipod which is pretty nice but expensive here

Yikes! For that $$ I'll drop for an atlas!

Thanks for the post I'll look into those options. Trying to get this build done in the next month.

Muzzle break and PRS stock will stretch things a little and will provide the correct geometry you are look for. The Muzzle break will add two inches on the business end alone.

Hello,
My dad and I lurk this forum a lot, and have learned a lot on here. I just don't post often. I got a few toys I've built up over time.. thought I'd share because this topic is kinda my favorite when it comes to precision rifle.

Started off as a small project... didn't think it would be so ungodly expensive to achieve what I set out to do. Wanted 1/4 MOA, to shoot 1000 yard 12" steel plates out at our property. It's a lot of fun, and at extended distances, you really get into the fine art of precision rifle shooting.

Gun has virtually no felt recoil. Smooth as can be. Most people who shoot it for the first time, think it's a 223 or smaller.

Details on the rifle -

- Lilja custom match 308 stainless, 20" 1:11 twist barrel, head-spaced to :
- JP Enterprise LMOS polished stainless bolt carrier
- JP Enterprise thermal compensator
- Low mass operating system - Frictionless recoil assembly.
- JP Enterprise muzzle brake
- JP Enterprise adjustable low profile gas block
- Crappy , half *** bipod that was likely made by underage children in China. (now replaced with another semi-crappy bipod)
- JP trigger - 3 lbs and NICE
- SI Defense 7075 billet lower
- Flat side billet upper receiver
- JP aluminum light weight hand guard
- Magpul grip
- Magpul UBR stock
-

---- Optics ----
SWFA 5-20x55 Super Sniper scope (First Focal plane) -on-
SWFA Bobro Precision optic mount (quick disconnect to true zero)

Idea of the gun, was to make a 1/4 MOA 308 semi automatic high tolerance rifle, yet keep it as light weight and portable as possible for hiking up on the hills of our ranch.
Achieving 1 hole groups at 150 yards if I don't drink too much coffee and the wind isn't blowing sideways.

Initial Break in group - 150 yards

3 shot group - 150 yards - Repeatable sub 1/4 MOA achieved if the shooter isn't shakin like Catherine Hepburn on a can of Folgers.

45 ACP bullet for group comparison

Nice first post. Are you using hand loads to achieve that accuracy?

Yes.
I run 2 types of standard handloads, all using mil surplus LC 308 brass.
I've never shot store bought ammo through the rifle.

My favorite bullets are Nosler Ballistic tip .. Green tip hunting loads.
They've been extremely accurate in my rifle.
168 gr AMAX is my usual load for shooting past 800 yards.

I've been using iSnipe , the iPhone app to dope and it's been amazingly accurate for anything over 500

Getting there... All that's left now is brake (on it's way) and optics..

Then later upgrade:
A2 to UBR
PG to MOE
Trigger to Geissele

Yea I'm working on it. I've uploaded it 4 times and PB keeps putting out small. I'll try to put in a better picture tomorrow.

Okay, sorry about the poor pic, but the sun isn't up where I can get a good one.. lol

First 308 build, done a handful of AR-15s, but wanted something that will reach out and touch you a bit further out then the 15 will. Just got the barrel kit today from JP and only have it dry fitted, but you get the idea..

DPMS style LR308 lower, CMMG Upper, both Cerakoted Green Beret Green
JP Low Mass BCG
JP 12.5" Modular hanguard
JP Adjustable Gas Block
JP Supermatch 22" SST 1:10 barrel with Thermal Dissipator and JP standard Muzzle Brake (blended)
Jard adjustable 4# single stage trigger
Vortex 6-24 PST on a Burris PEPR mount

For the moment, it is setup with an AR-15 collapsible (B5 Sopmod) stock, I have a couple of buffer options, will start with the std 3.7oz, have a CAR 10 buffer from Slash I can try and a heavy spring, but I think that the LMOS BCG will fair better with a lighter buffer and tuning the gas. I also have a skeleton stock and rifle buffer setup coming as well to try out if I don't like the collapsible stock option.

Should be putting some rounds downrange in a weekend or two if the dang weather will cooperate..
