CCW in Murrieta
Getting a little bit of a run around from Murrieta PD. I'm not getting a straight answer if they issue or not. Does anyone know if they issue or do I have to go through Riverside County. I have all of the paperwork filled out for Riverside, but they are saying I need to go through my local if possible.

Just go straight to the Riverside County sheriff... They are the issuing authority and they likely won't make you try and go through Murrieta first. You will either talk to deputy Yezzo or Aguire. Both are great to deal with.

Just looks at Riverside' website and download the application packet... There is a class and range day. That's it. You don't need any of that before applying. You can choose to wait and see if approved before doing either of those.

Ditto on going straight to Riverside Sherriff. If you can talk or ask around for anyone in particular, try Sherriff Rosas, homicide,Perris Station.A good man, very down to earth and unlike 90% of people,LE or otherwise,he will listen to you when you speak. What he says or does after is up to him of course, but he is a helluv a nice guy

Sheriff Sniff's CCW process violates state law by requiring the applicant to fill out more application docs than the DOJ form, requiring 3 references (who cannot be employers or family) and as stated in the Peruta case, violates the 2A by requiring a good cause statement beyond the desire to defend oneself.
This is Sniff's "Good Cause" requirement: Quote:
