Default Fire at Burro canyon

This is why we can't have nice thing! Fire started at the rifle range. Clearly someone snuck some steel core in. ROs shut everything down and sent everyone home.

Don't shot steel core at Burro folks. Ruins the fun for everyone

It only takes one idiot to cheap to buy better ammo!

Looks like the fire is 100% contained and all roads reopened. I'd guess Burro will be open again tomorrow but give them a call to be sure

Thanks, but just heard from range personnel. They will open Monday at the earliest. Fire is still under investigation. (I had a private range event planned for tomorrow)

According to the gentlemen taking back the PVC target rentals said this was the first time I'm 5 years that they had a fire brake out at Burro. Can't say for sure myself of course that's just what he said.

Sucks for the fire and the idiot cheapo, but I'm glad about this thread because I didn't know about Burro Canyon shooting range, I looked it up and it's close.

It's great man, they even have a taco guy at lunch in case you get hungry spending the day there.

Burro is a fantastic facility. It's my favorite place to shoot anywhere.

I sure hope this fire wasn't started by someone wanting to save a nickel per round on ammo. If it was, I hope they're billed for the firefighter's effort and a weekend's worth of lost revenue for the range.

Fantastic job by the firefighter's getting this contained so quickly. The hills are very dry and Burro Canyon is typically windy.

Hate to see these fires when the forest service is always trying to shut down the range for any reason.

The good news is the fire burned out most of the duff/crap that has accumulated on that hill for the past 50 years and having a clean backstop for the range will prevent fires again for the next 10-15 years.

I actually wish more had burned. A lot of land out there should be left to burn sometimes so it won't happen again for a few decades. Of course then, fire fighting budgets would decrease...

Wanna shoot steel core then go to Raahauges, no need to make the rest of the Burro Canyon regulars that do follow the rules suffer

you would think that hill would be clear of brush, and even non magnetic ammo can spark hitting the right thing

Watching the news, the first fire is getting bigger due to a truck that caught fire.

A second one called the Morris fire is by the houses and looks like it started in a backyard.

Azuza canyon is getting ****ed this weekend.

not the same location or fire.
If you know the road well leading to the range, this fire is near the turn off to the dam. Still sucks. The Burro fire was 5 acres total, this one is already 100 acres

Perfect conditions to get it going. Unfortunate.

Hwy 39 and all roads leading into that area of Angeles Forest are closed to to the two big fires that are burning. Whenever they decide they feel like reopening the roads, Burro will reopen.

Please call the Angeles National Forest HQ in Arcadia at 626-574-1613 and ask them to reopen the road. I'm out of a job until Burro reopens, so would appreciate all pressure on them to reopen the forest.
