“Cal Multi” and “Pistol” engravings have nothing to do with each other.

Just got the letter of acceptance for 3 - 80% AR pistols VolReg. Only received an email 2 weeks ago that they were under review...no other contact made. 3 months total from application date.

Entered the 80% lower manufacturer on the application instead of US. I doubt you will have an issue.

Did you also supply photos with your Volreg?

80% non-AW pistol, is it OK to put an upper + barrel (NO BCG or CH) onto the gun? Or would I be in BBAW territory for constructive possession since the BCG/CH are nearby? I have not received my AR maglock yet and I uninstalled the BB (there is currently no mag release in the gun)

My biggest concern is that because there is no serial number on it - it is deemed illegal, how can I go about submitting my application without incriminating myself?

Should I state that the firearm is a single shot rather than a semi?

Hey everyone,

I took said advice for only filling in the drop down menus only with the asterisks. However, I received an email for an incomplete application stating that:

"Admin Comment History
On 07/17/2018 13:10:43, Admin wrote: Thank you for submitting your application. Please select the category for your pistol from the drop down list."

The receiver was a single shot converted to a semi auto - my plan was to select the single shot option. Does anyone have objections or thoughts before I submit?

I registered mine as semi-auto. I thought it would be incorrect to register as something it was not anymore (single shot).

There is generally no constructive possession of AW's as evidenced by the fact that DOJ says that if it's disassembled, it's not an AW.

No magazine catch AT ALL is NOT A FIXED MAGAZINE.

If you assemble an AR lower reciever into a pistol configuration with an upper/barrel/bolt carrier, it's an AW because it accepts a magazine outside of the pistol grip and does not have a fixed magazine.

Be sure your magazine is fixed in place before you install an upper.
Be sure your upper is removed before you remove your magazine.
Never assemble the upper to the lower without a magazine fixed in place.

Just wondering, did DoJ previously send anything to you dated prior to July 1st? And when'd you fill out the volreg?

I received a notice yesterday via an admin comment about some information I need to clarify on CFARS. Unfortunately, the system won't allow me to push the application through and is now telling me "self-built firearms can no longer be registered using this form." I submitted this back in April before a DOJ issued serial number was required and am at a loss. How then do I go about correcting this if I can't push the form through? Am I just missing something obvious? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

if they didnt cash your check in 2 weeks its probably lost in the mail i really do not know what your recourse is or would have been back then

its not like you can call and ask if you got it

and if you sent in a duplicate a month later you would be out an additional $20 if they did it twice

I did my submission online. Payment was pretty much "cashed" right away. I'm going to chalk it up to backlog and wait and see what happens. Just good to know volregs are being processed, I guess...

I heard of this same thing happening to someone else too. Pretty messed up.

Got 'submission confirmation' emails for the last of my 80s. Rifles and pistols. Took about 3.5 weeks on average from registration to the email. Looking forward to the paper letters in about a week.

If I have no bolt carrier group in the upper, I’m safe, correct? I am fitting parts together at the moment and testing. Wanted to make sure I’m in the clear before leaving it in the safe between fitting sessions. (It cannot fire in the state it is in now.)

As safe as you can be in California as a AR-15-style rifle owner.

(hh) “Semiautomatic” means a firearm functionally able to fire a single cartridge, eject the empty case, and reload the chamber each time the trigger is pulled and released. Further, certain necessary mechanical parts that will allow a firearm to function in a semiautomatic nature must be present for a weapon to be deemed semiautomatic. A weapon clearly designed to be semiautomatic but lacking a firing pin, bolt carrier, gas tube, or some other crucial part of the firearm is not semiautomatic for purposes of Penal Code sections 30515, 30600, 30605(a), and 30900.

June 29. FWIW I regd my 9mm lowers first on 6/26 but they were approved last. Not sure if the nonstandard look made them take longer.

When i see a success come thru i kick myself for deciding to wait and just bend over and ask them for to please give me a number but the guys out here doing the waiting game or getting kicked back... Well that might have sucked more.

i freaked out internally thinking if i wait i may have to pay $15 per for an issued number

i was thinking it would be more convienient to only have to stamp their number on

as opposed to my name and city

So AB 857 says if you own a firearm without a serial number on it, you need to apply to the DOJ for one by January 1, 2019.

Which form would you use on CFARS to get one?
