Default Copper Matrix ammo for shooting steel?

I recently saw something called "Copper Matrix" ammo, which is supposedly safe to shoot at steel even at short distances. I saw a slow-motion video where a bullet of this ammo struck a steel plate and it looked like the entire bullet dissolved into a cloud of dust. They have this ammo at my local Sportsman's Warehouse and it's affordable at 20 cents a round for 9mm. And it's lead-free to boot. It sounds like the perfect plinking ammo to me. Does anyone have experience with this or any type of copper/polymer ammo?

Default Hang Fast Targets solution

We were asked the same question here at Hang Fast Targets so we set up a few targets and cameras at the range to see how these bullets perform. I loaded up 45 gr SinterFire bullets to approx 2900 fps and fired them on steel targets @ 15 FEET using an AR15 set up for standard ammunition. We then inspected the targets by painting them to reveal the extent of damage.

Here is the VIDEO testing 223 frangible bullets on steel @ 15'

For handgun ammo we came up with another solution to spall damage and containment. Very "low tech" but effective. Works great to mitigate spall damage in shoot houses, indoor ranges and contain lead pollution. Bullet casters can recycle over 90% of their bullets back into the lead pot.
Works on a standard T Post pounded in the ground or used with our unique ALL TERRAIN T-POST STAND

Sounds like frangible to me, optimized for cost of production rather than terminal ballistics (otherwise, why not call it frangible).

Just speculation...

I shot a groundhog with one of SinterFire's 45 grain .223 bullets and it turned into a bag of goo. No exit hole and the entrance was almost invisible.

They're fairly accurate too. I was getting easy hits on my 12" steel @ 300 yards with them.

Thank you for the info, Vincono. Where do you buy this type of ammo and how much do you pay per round?
