I can put up with a lot of crap for $1,000,000.
And why are these guys so bad? I have never been to their store so I have no first hand experience.

They are ok. They used to be terrible, but it seems they have tried to change their store around.

Best change they could make would be, DISAPPEARING.

Why so much ambiguity? What's wrong with this shop?

Their customer service sucks and that's putting it very very mildly. I've felt more satisfied getting a citation from the CHP or any transaction at the DMV is even better.

I won't go to ECGE for a free gun.

I didn't click the link, but I bet it is the Gun Exchange by the responses.

Well, for one, there are women working behind the gun counter. Wait, what?

http://www.yelp.com/biz/el-cajon-gun-exchange-el-cajon

I had similar experiences to some of the 1 star reviews. Demeaning manager(laughed at a guy in the middle of the store about the price he was hoping to sell his AR for, then told him he'd give him $300), rude counter employees, stuff everywhere.

I called up one day asking if they had a one of those S&W AR15 Sports in stock. Was immediately told I didn't want that rifle, I wanted the M&P 15T. This was going to be my first "AR", but was pretty sure I was not going to be needing anything more than a basic gun. No plans to go to Iraq with it and play in sandstorms or anything.

Had a bad experience way back in the late 90's while shopping for my first pistol. All I remember was a rude salesman and I walked out. Reminds me of a used car lot.

I guess their attitudes bug me the most. The higher sales tax in El Cajon sucked too, though I think that is gone now.

I won't go back, hopefully anyone here who goes in has better experiences.

There are far better shops in East County like AO Sword & Wilde Built Tactical nearby. Heck, even Turners now!*GASP*

I've said it before and I'll say it again... El Cajon FUD Exchange. I work close by so I'll stop by sometimes. A couple was there looking at firearms (not owning any) and the sales guy was pressuring them into buying an AR that day because D.C. was going to make them illegal yesterday. Granted, I've heard many LGS employees bag on the government and stupid firearm laws. But ECGE takes it to another level.

Maybe they are hiring a new employee in hopes of injecting new (friendly) blood.
I lived about 5 blocks away for 3 years and only stopped in a handful of times.
I was always disappointed, and I believe the only purchase I ever made was an emergency can of CLP.

Hey, I'd work there for a million bucks....hell yeah, then buy them out and make a real gun store out of the ashes.

All this ranting from gun owners about gun stores reminds of how Republicans eat their own.
ECGE must be doing something right or else they would go out of business.

Couldn't agree more! If I paid heed to all the rants on this forum, there wouldn't be a gun shop in San Diego I could go to. A lot of butt hurt going on.

That place sucks. When a co-worker and I went there looking for our first firearm they completely disregarded us. We went a couple of times to see if they got any new inventory, the 3rd time they recognized us cause they got all weird with us and when we spoke in Spanish they made a not so subtle comment about how only English should be spoken in the US.

They never give you a price over the phone and get mad if you tell them other gun stores tell you what they have in stock and a price. I was in the store when a guy wanted to buy a case of ammo that they didn't have in stock. The customer said he would pay retail for the ammo if they ordered it. The 2 people helping him said that it would be cheaper for him to buy it online and have it shipped to his house. I mean who gives away a sale?
