1903 Springfield
Here is a project I have been working on...
This was a beat to hell old sporterized junker bought in a pawn shop about 20 years ago, I thought there must be something I could do with it since the 42 dated barrel was still good. Don't worry, I did not drill holes in the receiver to mount the scope since they were already there more or less. I had the holes in the rear bridge welded up and mounted the Unertl which I think is not the correct model but it still functions OK. Looks a bit better than how it started, no before pics though. |

Awesome! I've been wanting one of these for a LONG time.

SO to get first dibs at the front of the line......
Depending upon price and Blah, and Blah Blah, and pending more pics, and Blah Blah Blah, and if price includes shipping, and blah blah blah, and if I can pay for it in two weeks when I get my econimic stimulus check and blah, blah, blah, blah.... |

Thanks for the compliments, I have not fired the rifle as of yet. I have a lot on the plate lately and not much time to get out to a decent range. I really did this project only on a whim to see what could be done with what started out as two old junk rifles. The action and barrel on the rifle in the photos was actually an arsenal rebuilt rifle that was poorly sporterized in the 50's or 60's with a badly refigured GI stock and some old two piece scope mounts. I was lucky in that the receiver was not drilled for an adjustable sight as well so the only holes to fix were in the rear bridge. The front ring was already defaced with mount holes from the old setup so I was not going to try to have those filled since the engraving would never look right anyway. The target base at the rear matched up with one of the holes in the receiver so the rear base was simple. The front is where all the work was done, it is not perfect but it works as it should. The stock and the Unertl were found on ebay and of course were the bulk of the cost on this. I took the bolt and a couple of small parts from the second rifle to complete the project, I do hope to get out and shoot the thing as it would be fun to see what it does.

You probably know this but that scope will move forward on every shot. The first time I shot one of those the first shot was dead on, the next not as much. Took me a half a second to realize you have to pull the scope back!

Shouldn't there be a spring on it?
