I guess I've been off forums too long and have forgotten how to conduct my compliments in a way where it doesn't make other people feel offended.

It was simply a compliment, not only to him, but to how others are building their AKs in tasteful ways that I have yet to reach, and photographing them nicely. The comment was my way of emphasizing how much I like FiveSeven's Aks. I don't know him personally or anything like that, it's just an opinion.

I sure as hell don't look at photos on the internet as a "winning/loosing" thing. I also didn't realize that it was easy to convey that, in anything other than posting a pick of my AK which needs work, and saying how mine was the best one out there, or something like that, which it is not, if there even can be one. When I stated "belongs to", I didn't realize it would be taken literally. To me, it simply meant that it is my opinion that his rifles are the best I've seen, not only on here, but any forum. If an apology is owed, in that sense, well I'm not a prideful person, so an apology you can take this as.

So the idea of this thread being a competition is a silly one to me and I'm sorry you got offended. Also, to FiveSeven, if I've made you feel uncomfortable with that comment, I apologize for that as well.

Anyway, I'll let you guys get back to your idea sharing...

I understand as most others, that statement shouldn't have been taken literally....It's all good, no need to apologize for anything. Thanks for compliment.

Will be even less traditional in a few weeks with a AR stock and SLR rail.

I'd say this isn't traditional.

Good morning. That is a tape switch for the light. I believe I got it used, but they can be had new, at most weapon and flashlight accessory retailers. There is a switch with the momentary and constant on, but I am still trying to figure out the best way to mount it, as it is for a rail. This momentary only is mounted with a Magpul M Lok switch mount.

Looks very clean, I love it

I'm not a fan of any loose wire hanging around especially on a firearm

Thank you. I agree. There are some decent light out there that make it unnecessary to spend a lot of money on the Surefire. Problem is, I don't like my lights mounted on the left and don't like VFGs, so I need a switch, and the switches for the good but cheaper lights, are crap. The curly stretchy ones are the worst.

If the Pro Tac was out at the time I bought my Surefire, I'd probably had just gone with it.

As to not derail the thread...

One thing I have not been good at, is taking flattering side photos of firearms. One day I'm going to use my wife's camera and work on getting the beautiful artistic detail some of you are achieving.

Thank you panda. Over the years I basically added things that I thought would enhance certain features I wanted in a good rifle. One by one, some of them get replaced, but some have stayed. I think the biggest jump improvement is due to the M Lok system.

Some would scoff at the idea of putting this amount of money worth of stuff on a 550 gun, but the FEG AMD 65 is a high quality rifle that shoots so well that enhancing it actually benefits the shooter. I am not a fantastic shooter to the point where I can shoot amazingly well with any gun. Today I zeroed it and this thing hits 3" groups at a hundred yards, without breathing techniques, slow follow up shots, or a bench rest. I will go back when I have more time and try and be more precise, but I believe it can do 1.1/2" groups at 100 yards, with good effort.

THE NEW

SLR Solo 11.5" rail
Strike industries viper stock
Strike industries grip (Slimmer than magpul, not sure which one I like more. Gotta try the finger bump)
Strike industries Cobra forend grip (I guess SI likes snakes)
ALG AKTrigger
Magpul handstop kit
Magpul sling adapter
Magpul tapeswitch mount for the surefire
Arisaka Scout mount
Strike Industries MLok rail for the front grip
Strike industries MLok covers

THE OLD

AMDTech buffer block (inside)
Ultimak top rail
M600 Scout
TWS dust cover rail
Aimpoint T1
UTG rear peep sight (it's very nice for UTG, and it's windage and elevation adjustable)
Circle 10 mag
Bumpski stock adapter (I think it's made by ACE)
Solar Tactical mag well
Vortex Optics spare CR2032 better case

Last thing I plan to do is mount a tantal break. Have a good week.

I like how the color of the ak and the background go so well together. I also prefer the higher stock adapters to the lower vltor.

Perhaps I subconsciously like that style, due to my life long love for all things Batman. It's also probably why I have a compulsive need to customize everything I get my hands on, and make things I can't buy.

Just put some parts on the wasr today. MI extended Keymod with optic ready top cover. Strike industries AK to AR stock adapter, had a buffer tube and vltor stock laying around. Rail is only slightly hand tight so I could pick it up and play with it and see what it feels like. Gunna put it in a vice at work so I can really get it dialed in and have everything lined up and loctite'd

Gunna order a vortex sparc 2 for it sometime in the near future since I chose the option on the rail for t1/sparc

And by the way. I ran into some issues. My lower handguard retaining cap on my wasr was kinda large, and when I tightened down the rail it was hitting the inside bottom rail so it was all crooked. I tried grinding it down to make it smaller, ended up just cutting it off since I knew I wouldn't ever put stock handguard back on and it serves no purpose with this rail. Fits straight now.

I guess each ak will different?

Ultimak gas tube/Primary Arms red dot.
BoneSteel folder (fixed using zip ties), Mission First Minimalist stock, Magpul grip, 10/30 circle 10 mag, TechSight - smaller front sight.

Originally or before, it had Magpul stock and Ultimak lower railed hg. Magpul stock is/was junk compared to Bonesteel and Ultimak lower was unneeded, much lighter and handier rifle now.

Thanks, yes, when it comes to peep sights on AK, nothing beats Techsight. Very well thought out/designed equipment.
The only negative is you will loose 80% or so of the side rail scope options. POSP scope will still work and RS Regulate forward bias that I know of.

mmmm, it looks like that Definitive Arms AK 103U is out of stock everywhere. That's a shame, I'm always in the market for another good looking AK.

Any ideas calguns? Where could I pick this critter up?

Thanks. Yea this is far beyond stock, but the AMD65 is no stock variant to begin with. I love the look of a good, used, old AK with wood furniture, but the AMD is like a mattress with nothing left but the springs. So I thought I'd make it as ergonomic and practical for the length of my arms, strength at the time, and accuracy, according to what I think I know about how to tune an AK. I've gotten called a mall ninja once or twice, but after they shot it, they were asking where to get a lot of the mods.

But that's what I love about AKs the most; they are blank canvases. It's no surprise when you kit out an AR. It's like a drawing, waiting to be colored in. The AK is still waiting to be conceptualized.

The only negative is you will loose 80% or so of the side rail scope options. POSP scope will still work and RS Regulate forward bias that I know of.

I think, in a couple years, if I get another AK or change this setup again, I will go with the Techsight. Good thing my AMD has no side rail.
