So my project begins and I can't wait to complete it even though it probably won't happen until early next year.
So far all I have:
1. Tactical Machine 308 lower receiver
2. CMMG Stage 2 LPK

Up next will be the
1. DPMS A2 stock assembly
2. Magpul UPR Stock
3. Ergo Grip with Palm Shelf

I've only shoot it once so far with the new trigger, and OMG what a difference. It's nice to know precisely when the hammer is going to drop. The second stage 1.2 pound pull is a dream come true.

I'll probably swap out the bi-pod in the future for a non rotating like the Harris 1A2-BR. I'll put the Harris S-BRM on my hunting rig.

The canting after each shot is a little annoying.

BTW I've nick named this rig "the friend maker". Because anyone I've let shoot it is now my friend, LOL. People literally stop and start taking videos and pictures when I, or a new friend goes live at the range with this beast.

Here's a few pictures of the upgrades.

is ur anti roll in installed backwards ? if it function , guess it doesnt matter huh . idk , just installed one watching youtube and just noticed urs backwards..

Can I get opinions on Trigger groups for a 308 build? Going to be a longer range precision rifle. I'm between one of the Geissele or the Timney.

Had Timney 4lbs , went with Geiselle SD-E . much better pull . this is with just playing with lower not range time . it seems timney ppl are happy with their products as well as geisslle .
have you tried any aftermarket triggers at ? some stores have some models where you can test some out too .

I just picked up an 80% .308 lower and will be working on my first .308 build. I was wondering which AR-15 and AR-10 parts are interchangeable. I have the DMPS pattern lower. What AR-15 parts can I get to use for my build? Thanks.

Went to the Crossroads of the West gun show at the Cow Palace and found an upper that I wanted for an awesome price. Big thanks to CWS for giving me an awesome deal.

I loved puttin it together but now it's time to actually try it out.
Still not fully done with it, some furniture I want is needed to make it look the way I want it.
Tactical Machining lower
CMMG 2 stage trigger
Ergo grip (found in great condition used for $2)
DPMS stock assembly
DPMS complete Bull Barrel upper
20/10 PMAG

not going to be .308 but a .260 Rem put together on a LR-308 platform... Should be a pretty flat and accurate shooter out to 1k+ once I get the skills to shoot out that far.

Barrel: On order Heavy Profile 24" BHW .260 Rem
Upper: DPMS with Chrome BCG
Scope: On order Nikon Monarch X
Lower: TM-308, with "home made" stoned and polished fire control group with 4.5LBS pull weight
Stock: Magpul UBR
Brake: JP Enterprise Comp, should have LESS recoil than a .223
Hand Guard: Still undecided but leaning toward a Troy 13.8" rail or a JP 15.5" Hand Guard
Ammo: loaded some re-sized .308 Federal Brass to .260 Rem using 142gr Sierra MK over 44.5gr H4350... for now . Picked up some 139gr Scenars and 140gr A-Max to follow.

cant wait to zero and test some loads with this three08

Nice looking rifle. I recommend ditching the Larue mount and get that scope height down. Not gonna get a good cheek weld with the scope that high.

Badger has four ring sets that work well with 50mm scopes on a rail-less handguard like the JP. They are 1.125" C-C. I use the JP as well.

I use these on my AR308 with a 6-24x50 FFP PST:
306-17 High Alloy

These will work as well, but are at least twice as heavy as the Alloy ones.
306-09 High
306-39 USMC SARS “Issue Item"
306-13 MAX-50 High

thanks for your recommendation , I havent tried any lower ring with this setup so i cant not tell the difference . but i dont have problems with sighting . but then again , lower ring might be better choice . hopefully I will run into that setup at the range . yea , i just checked out their page and those come in 2pc =/ . happen to have pic of your setup ? thanks

Not a .308, but a large frame AR....does that count??

Sorry Stan, better start over and rebuild in 308. I don't make the rules, I just..... You know the drill.

Just kidding, that's quite a boom stick. Makes me seriously consider building another in 6.5CM.

Recently impulse purchased a DPMS stripped lower from AmmoBro weekly sale. Salvaged through my spare parts box, MidwayUSA, and Gunbroker have gotten me the following:
  • DPMS bullet button lower - AmmoBro
  • Rock River 2-stage trigger set - old AR parts
  • DPMS lower Pins (front and back) - MidwayUSA
  • DPMS buffer and recoil spring - MidwayUSA
  • DPMS bolt carrier group - gunbroker
  • No name charging handle
  • Misc springs, pins, bolt lock, safety, grip, etc - old AR parts
  • A1 Stock, buffer tube - old AR parts
  • Armalite Upper with Armalite barrel - old spare 308 parts

Fitting it all together like all AR sets. Few exceptions:
  • Armalite Upper front pivot pin hole is 0.001" smaller than the DPMS pivot pin.
  • DPMS lower's pin hole for fire control are just a hair smaller than the average AR fire control pins.
  • Bolt lock uses a special screw vs roll pin. Duh!! (fixed it with std roll pin cut down 1/8" and a 20 cent 1/8", 6-32 set-screw from local hardware store)
  • An open gap between the upper and the lower above the take down pin. As expected.
  • Upper require some metal removal above the magazine, right behind the chamber to allow DPMS mag to sit properly. Not expected

Next is to check the DPMS bolt headspace in the Armalite barrel.

does anyone know of a single point sling mount kind of like the magpul ASAP that will fit the .308's? the magpul one is waaayyy too small to fit in the notch on the receiver.

I have a Phase 5 Tactical (REVO-SAS) one on my rifle, which is a DPMS .308 type AR, but before I had it I had just the standard plate that came in the lower parts kit which is identical to an AR-15 one. I don't have any experience with the magpul sling mount, so I'm not sure which piece is too small, because my ar-15 and dpms .308 AR have the same sling mounts.

here's a link: http://www.phase5tactical.com/produc...ment-solution-

ill check that out, but on the magpul one the notch on the back of the receiver that matches the notch on the plate that the lower parts kit comes with is a different size. they dont line up when you put the magpul one on.

I just got my TM-10 80% lower finished, my LPK and stock/buffer setup installed.

So far it's a DPMS LPK, rifle length buffer tube and ACE Ultralight stock.

Now I've got to get an upper together.

I was initially thinking I could put together a budget light weight upper then I noticed all the budget parts are out of stock. I could buy what is available but that would leave me with an expensive LR308 with a split personality that doesn't do anything particularly well.

My second thought is to play to the strengths of the expensive parts, upgrade a little to make it less cookie cutter and wind up with what I'm going to call a poor man's JP.

Parts are being ordered, hopefully pictures after I get something together.

Parts list will be disclosed after I've got my parts.

Orders have been placed.

Two items are on back order, but the manufacturer said parts would be shipping to the retailer I ordered from within a week.

I'm hoping parts start to roll in late next week.

One of them is a stripped TM10 upper to match my home made lower.

What's the lightest AR308 you guys have seen? I really want to do a 308 echoing my dissy....make the lightest, handiest, lowest recoiling (woth lowest muzzle climb) carbine possible.
