Iirc the old warranty cards that came with it does state it. Warranty only applies to original purchaser that registestered the item with proof of receipt.

That had to have been a long time ago. Long before Vortex was selling scopes the current Leupold warranty was in place.

Yeah leupy was wayyyyyyy Late to the game. They finally figured it out that tryn screw their only customers over has costed them. Back in the late 90’s early 2k leupys didnt have many competitors in its class so they rape their customers with everything they could. Now theyre just barely tryn catch up.

I only own 2 scopes- both bought about 6 years ago-- a Vortex Viper PST 4-16x FFP MOA/MOA and a Trijicon TR24G 1-4x. Both got for around $750 and as far as bang for the buck I could not be happier w either of them.

Really what is these days?
Even many USA made items we are used to seeing now say things like "Made in USA, with Global components" Going back to Vortex... always been a fan. Been using them for at least 7+ years. Their Viper PST line has always been a good value oriented proposition but if you can afford their Razor line of scope, you will be as close to to the top shelf as you can get for the price paid. You need to spend a significant amount more money to actually SEE the difference and even then you are buying small incremental improvements. Where the PST brings it home is balance... they give you a lot of scope to grow into without going too low or high-end in any one particular area. If you need more than a PST, you are basically a pretty serious enthusiast or working professional.

I'm only going to trust the warranties from well established brands like Remington (founded 1816).

Just to throw a wet towel on all this hyperbole, Leupold has been around a whole lot longer, is American made, and has always had a no questions asked warranty, for whoever presently has the optic. There is no way Vortex, a well respected, but relative newcomer, can compare. Get real folks. At best, they offer the same warranty, not the best in the industry. Leupold owned that long before Vortex owners parents were even born!

Vortex: You see, it doesn't matter how it happened Leupold: These warranties do not apply if the product has been modified, misused or has been damaged by accident, abuse, or misapplication. In real world application there is no difference though and for all intent and purpose Vortex copied Leupold. It has been stated before by people that the Vortex warranty is fantastic, the problem isn’t the warranty but that it has to be used so much. This I believe is the crux of the matter. When I was selling scopes I sure heard more people complaining abort their Vortex scopes breaking than with Leupold.

With that being said I’ll take a Leupold scope or red dot any day over Vortex. But I’ll take Vortex binoculars and spotting scopes over Leupold.

Have never sent a Leupold in for damage I've caused, just for failing to hold a zero. Those scopes were both very very old. New ones sent without question within two weeks. No problem. Not really knocking Vortex, as I have a pair of their binoculars and a mono. Just pointing out their warranty is not the only best one out there. I've not dropped / damaged a Leupold before, but feel quite confident they'd make things right.

Larue Tactical has only been around since 1980, and yet they are trusted by military, LEO, and civilian shooters. So I guess what you consider recent or trustworthy doesn't match the opinion of others who actually matter.
