Just got another M1 Garand, it's 5.8Mil SA CMP Service Grade, with a grenade launcher sight mount.
Finish is still nice, with DoD "Eagle" & sherifed "P" still visible on the stock.
Guys, this C&R thing is def. an addiction

Some shots:

With the "older brother", a 3.2Mil SA CMP Service Grade:

Nice. I have never seen one with a grenade sight. I didn't realize the CMP sold rifles in that configuration, interesting. Did you get it from a private party or from the CMP?

Nice looking M1 Garands. I want to get more, I have 3 Garands at the moment. I think they have a limit of 12 per year. Hmmm. Anywho, the C&R is an addiction.

Very nice. Since you already have the base for the grenade launcher sight, I think it would look cool to mount the sight. (Not mine, web pictures)

Bill Ricca sells unissued USGI M15 grenade launcher sights for only $8.

Quote:
A15 M15 Grenade Sight, WWII. These are new, never used and complete. Includes the sight, base and screws, carrying case, and the trajectory chart from 1944. PHOTO The sight and components are new, but the carrying case may have slight rust on the M1910 hook (belt hook) $8.00 plus shipping.

Garands are such bargains!

Semi Auto 30-06, battle rifle configuration, plenty of history, forged receiver, all for under a grand!

ChrisToad: go to www.thecmp.org and look on the left side of the page. Eligibility, forms, and the like is right there. Ordering from the CMP is extremely easy, and a heck of a deal. Seriously.

For a 1st Garand, get a Service Grade. If you want a specific manufacturer, they'll say what they have in stock on their Garand page. The other grades may shoot well, but they're going to have some barrel wear. I really do like my SG Garand. It shoots pretty darned good, probably better than I do still.

Was looking into getting an M1 Garand and saw some talk about CMP. I wonder if we can get CGF to be one of their eligible organizations.
