No. Loading 9mm with Dillon dies.
I have had a problem the past few weeks with the brass not landing correctly in the Station 1 Locator. I cleaned and polished the locator plate BUT still had the same problem.
i figured out today it was the casefeed body assembly that was loose(BROKEN)

Why even bother sending it back? I'd hope they just ship a new part and be done with it.

That boss has like zero stress on it, must have been a faulty cast, how many rounds through that machine?

Most likely they will send you A new frame.
Might be worth asking if you can upgrade to a 750 however they might make you pay for some parts as the priming system is different

Man, that’s bad. Good thing Dillon has a no BS warranty. When you speak with them ask if it’s possible to upgrade to the 750. Nothing wrong with the 650 and I have been using mine since 2008 but if Dillon said send it to use and we will replace it with the 750 you can bet that I would be taking it apart and packing it up within mins of getting off the phone.

I’d avoid a 750. There are many posts in reloading forums that the 740 is also cracking near the primer bar. Something to do with how they made machine cuts.

I was going to “upgrade” to a 750 and decided against it.

With Dillon's "No B.S." warranty, this should be no problem to replace. Looks indeed like a faulty casting; it happens.

you have any links? Ive never heard of it. Presses break with use and misuse (swage it)
I know I cracked a crank on my 550 after probably 100k but they sent a new improved one out.

I have had a Dillon press since the mid 80's. They stand behind their products. I doubt that you will have to even pay for shipping, and if I call it correctly, they will send you a new frame. No opinion on up grading to the 750.

Dropped off at Fed Ex today.
I did not think about asking about the 750 until I saw the post here.
Any more input about the 750 or stick with the 650?

Everything I have read and heard the 750 is a pretty nice improvement over the 650. It primes like the 550 and they are the press a little stronger. If you can call and the option is available take it. They may want you to pay for the primer parts but shouldn't be too bad probably $100

They need to use a longer bolt to grab more of the casting and use the bolt to strengthen the connection. I bet if you look at the original specs it used a longer bolt and some worker got a bonus for pointing out they could use a shorter bolt and save 2 cents per machine.

Just curious...what part of Dillon’s often quoted “no BS warranty” does it state owner is responsible for paying shipping costs on a failed casting part that renders the press an inoperable paperweight?

As an aside, years ago I had a Hornady LnL AP that for whatever reason I couldn’t get the timing right (and worked with a tech tweaking the pawls), so they sent me an RMA (press was a few years old at the time) to cover return shipping. A week later my press showed up “reconditioned” and worked better than it ever had and still does to this day. Point to emphasize, nothing was technically broken (e.g., no casting piece snapped off) and everything was on Hornady’s dime. That made me a lifetime customer as I can only imagine how expensive the shipping cost was on that Dillon 650. That would leave a bit of a sour taste, especially on a part of the press that you don’t really “handle” (like the ram) and certainly isn’t a stress point.

I have no doubt Dillon will make things right, but it wasn’t for free. Maybe in between “no” and “BS” there is some really fine print folks fail to mention or realize. Hopefully, and the right thing to do IMO, Dillon sends you a new 750 for the failure and your costs.

Keep us posted, as the red and blue lines are forming :-)

^^ Oh, the red and blue lines formed years ago. :-) There were plenty of times in past years that I got accused of bashing Dillon (I wasn't), simply because I happen to use primarily Lee gear. I was simply suggesting that a newbie to reloading first learn single stage and suggested the least expensive press (the $35 Lee Reloader Press) to get started, *then* after a thousand rounds or so, sure, go progressive. Ah, well...fortunately, that got straightened out in the end.

All the presses on my bench are currently Lee. However, recently I did also purchase a Dillon XL650 from a friend who was just getting into reloading. An XL650, RL550B, or any other progressive press (including my beloved Lee Pro 1000's and *DEFINITELY* a Loadmaster) is, in my view, not the best choice for the newbie. Learn what to look for as far as mistakes go, first. That means learn each stage individually. That has saved my hide twice now. Once you learn what you're doing, *then* absolutely consider progressive reloading.

All of the reloading companies make good gear. All of them generally stand by their products. Though I am myself a little surprised that OP had to pay shipping back to Dillon for that cracked frame. I wonder if OP sent pictures to them to show them the crack? Their warranty and customer service is supposed to be among the best in the business, and that's clearly a faulty casting.

Well I'll tell you what the red ones done brake because 1) they only make 1/100th the ammo or 2) LNL AP.. they get tired of trying to make it work right and end up not reloading anymore
JK they are all good and all can and will break. I've Lee's, Hornadys, RCBS, and Dillons they all have their quirks
