I got one of these, it failed headspace on two different barrels. A DPMS and JR bolt passes on these same barrels. I sent it back and got a replacement, it also fails headspace.

If anyone is interested in a brand new DPMS .308 bolt carrier in phosphate, I have one to sell. I would be happy to sell it for what I am into it, $299. Sold it. Thanks

I ordered two 308 BCG last week for my JD Machine Upper and lower build with a DPMS SASS barrel, CMMG lpk,a dn BCM Gunfighter charging handle. They arrived very quickly and I did my build tonight. Initial fit of bolt and barrel extension was very tight and gritty. I also found that the bolt will not stay open on the bolt catch either manually, with or without a magazine installed. Does anyone know if this is by design? I would like to know if the BCG is going to work before I attempt my second build.

Thanks

This is Jeff from 762 Industries. We are the manufacturer for these bolt carrier groups. I was recommended to this site by another customer. If you have questions please ask and I'll try to reply same day.

Headspace can vary between manufacturers and our bolts are cut .002 tighter than standard DPMS bolts. Depending on your barrel manufacturer and gauges you may need to remove the extractor/ejector to take the tension off the gauge to allow the gauge to chamber properly. If using the forster gauges the rim thickness is slightly thicker than the rim on a saami spec case. We always recommend having a qualified gunsmith perform headspacing measurements. However, a simple snap cap test can be used to determine if rim thickness is the culprit. Regardless, we stand behind our product 100%. Feel free to calk me directly at 1-800-903-8230 ext. 4.

As mentioned above our bolt is cut to tighter tolerances than most off the shelf bolts. As far as why your carrier is not locking to the rear I won't be able to answer that without seeing it. As the bolt face is the part that is retained by the catch. Once your carrier arrives back in the shop well evaluate it and let you know what's going on. Regardless, your new carrier shipped out today and you should be receiving it shortly. If you have any other questions or concerns please let me know.

Serious flaking here, I'm hoping it is a fluke, like maybe this one didn't get totally de-greased before coating, as after cycling 10 snapcaps and no live ammo, the bolt flaked at the nipple, and so did the rails on the bottom. Called, emailed and sent photos. I sent emails yesterday, and called today, left a voice-mail. In a waiting pattern.

Already got a call back (actual phone call!), sounds like the chipping is a fluke, replacements enroute Great customer service! Passed headspace on SS barrel. Beautiful piece!

I got one of your bolts, and I will say that the coating looked very good and the overall BCG seemed REALLY nice.. I've only hand cycled it about 20-30 times, but no problems with the NiBor coating.

But.. When I installed the bolt (in a Mega Maten upper) it felt very gritty when being cycled. I pulled it out and while the bolt is very slick the four bearing surfaces (that ride against the upper reciever) have super fine ridges like a very find file. You can feel them with your fingernail and when you run you nail along the surfaces you get a "zippy" noise. It also makes that zip noise when manually cycling the bolt.

I'm pretty sure it would shoot fine, but I'm worried about wearing down the upper. Thoughts?

Buying the product from you was a snap.. and you shipped quickly. Thanks

Those JSE BCG's look nice, but I would like to read some reviews before dropping the coin on a BCG of unknown origin.

they may have drilled too large of a relief hole behind the bolt - This is common on older ar10 carriers too. If the bolt is stuck you might have to hammer it out or send it back

I had the same issue. the fine file thing is not ok. No carrier should have that sort machine on the bearing surfaces.

For 300 bucks I would expect all the bearing surfaces to be smooth. Dull tooling and/or someone just not paying attention.

Was thinking about buying this...too many bad reviews. even one bad review will turn a customer away. sucks for small businesses that these forums drive most of the traffic. 762 should do another sale and have people post some good reviews to boost up some more social marketing.

Good customer service from this guy. I sent one back because the gas rings were getting chewed up due to burs inside the carrier. It's as if these BCGs are being made by someone who has never built a rifle, taken apart, or cleaned a BCG. There was some flaking on my first one. Although, I'm not sure how much NiB coating anybody really needs for a functional rifle. My fail zero bolt carrier NiB coating is so thick, it looks like the whole thing is made from it. The machining issues have to go. Tooling marks on the rails sort of defies all efforts to create a smooth cycling carrier. Furthermore, why even coat hardened steel teeth with NiB. Now, how many additional rounds it would take to noticeably wear down the upper receiver is the question. I will most likely never wear it out since 308 ammo is a buck a round. But, it's just annoying like a sloppy upper lower fit.

Happy with mine. Passed headspace on a mega barrel. Will update with range report but overall looks and cycles just fine.
