Default Sandy Hook question

I have read in many places that the Sandy Hook massacre was done by the perp's glock handguns and NOT the so-called 'assault weapon' that was in the trunk of the car he used. Over and over in the media, they claim that it is good to ban 'assault weapons' and use Sandy Hook as an example.

What exactly is the truth here? I really hate it when someone gets it wrong and then gives a reason for all the haters to jump him. I don't want to be 'that' guy, so - please school me on this.

I like how the police report calls the AR 15 mag high capacity 30 round. Pretty sure that is regular capacity...

they say an AR15 was found in the POS's trunk. whether he used it is another question but for the media and politicians he used it.

Thank your neighbor and fellow gun owners for passing Prop 63. For that gun control is a winning legislative agenda.

The long gun in the trunk, which was seen on video, was an Izhmash shotgun.

He could have used a pointy stick and the results wouldn't have been much different. He was shooting at children, and unarmed women in a confined space. A guy in China killed 9 people with a meat cleaver at a school.
