Default HK USC to HK UMP...sort of

When I picked up my USC I looked into converting it to a UMP but the cost was more than I wanted to spend. So I went this route instead. Still looks like a UMP a little but for a fraction of the cost.

I got the USC on sale at Turners for $1,400.00, the barrel shroud from HDPS was $125.00, the rails from HDPS were $125.00, the 10 round magazine from HERA was $125.00 and the stock was done by Tommy Built Tactical for $135.00. Grand total of a little over $1,900.00. Which is funny because that was the original price of the USC before it went on sale.

Next, to be on the safe side, I have US made parts from HDPS to make it 922r compliant.

Last I installed a Leupold Delta Point and Inforce light which bumped the cost up to around $2,500. Im pretty happy with it.

I found this picture of an actual UMP and did the side by side comparison. Of course mine has no folding stock and only 10 rounds but since I live in California I have no choice anyway. I think it looks pretty damn close.

Nice comparison pic.... Mind me asking how long the turn around time was the USC stock conversion by tommy built tactical?

It only took 10 days from the time I shipped it out to the day it arrived back. He did an awesome job too.

I call that a major win - great job on the cosmetic conversion!

That looks so much better than the thumbhole stock it comes with. Did the work include reshaping the grip? I like my USC and want to do the UMP conversion only because the stock grip is so bulky. I'm game if there was a way to get a different grip on there without doing the whole conversion.

I know what you mean about the grip. The conversion he did doesnt change the grip, Im not sure if he can do anything about it? Probably wouldnt hurt to ask him though. I had thought of going with the HERA grip, I hear its smaller but it also costs $550.00 and then you have to buy a stock to go with it for another $200.00. To save $615.00 I can live with a larger grip...for now.

Just heard at Turners HK discontinued the USC. Glad I got one when I did.

I bit the bullet and picked up the HERA grip for the USC. Pricey, $575.00 shipped. I also bought the Bushmaster ACR stock for it for another $175.00 shipped. Still waiting on the stock to be delivered and I'll post pictures as soon as it does.

Well here it is after installing the HERA pistol grip and ACR stock. It was expensive...but I like it. For the record...the grip is just as wide as the stock USC grip.

Nice pictures, I'm planning to convert my stock to tbostic design, I'm just wondering what parts did you change to US parts to be compliant? Thanks.

Rough, what did you do with the old Tommy built stock? I might want to buy it off you.
