Default M59/66 Yugo SKS "DMR"

Had this rifle for a few years or so, been working on the stock over that time with many long breaks in between. I did not put all that much effort in to it as I originally planned to so it's not as clean as it could have been.
I understand it's not everyone's cup a tea, that's cool. Very personal and custom. Really like this rifle, have no plans to ever sell it. So value or lose of it is a non issue

This is how it began.

Done, used some sort of clear coat, it did make pattern fade/blend in a bit. Left side is a bit lighter in pattern anyway.
Drilled/Tapped PU base/mount, I think SKS just goes better with a PU scope over anything more modern, after adjustment/drilling/pinning the scope base, its dead on at 100 with irons without hardly any adjustments (in both base elevation screws or scopes elevation turret), perfectly centered, so you could transition from one to the other instantly.
"Old World" type rifle, steel, wood and leather.

CNC Warrior brake, jam nut/crush washer.

Stripper clips are still usable with this scope setup.

So is irons.

After adjusting scope mount by two rear elevation screws, I drilled and pinned the mount in a way that even with the rear screws removed the scope mount elevation won't be affected after mounting/remounting the scope. Surprisingly this was not an option on original PU base/mount ( it prevents mount moving up and down, making two elevation screws unneeded). The pin trough does not actually attach mount to base.

Thanks..... I can't really put an number for sure, somewhere around 6-7 hours over several years. Have been putting it off for a while. I rushed the last 2 hours or so, just wanted be done with it. If I had enough time on my hands it'll had better outcome.

Dig it and agree with your approach. The PU scope is a nice fit.

It looks like the bird is flying over a city. I dig it.
Scope looks like it's at the 11o'clock position.

That's very cool. I've always wanted an SKS with a PU Scope. How difficult was it to install and setup?

It was very easy, I've done it many times on various things (drill/tap). Rule #1 is to measure seven times and drill once.

I like it. Saw pics of similar guns that were used in the bosnian war.

How does it group?

Thanks, about 2" (+) with Golden Tiger.....Trigger is not all that great (not even close to a good AK's,).
I think it's possible it can do a bit better. Have not experiment with it to much.
